Nope. At my 20 week scans I was actually asked to empty my bladder so they could see clearer! Good luck!

Hekkie · 26/08/2013 09:46

Nope, no full bladder needed. (I had my 20 week scan 2 weeks ago.)

I was asked to have a full bladder at my 20 week scan and was told to go and drink more water during the scan so it obviously varies by hospital.

I was told to have a full bladder. Only thing was I couldn't hold it in as they were running late so had to go to the toilet! Luckily had time to 'refill' it before the scan, and the sonographer even commented 'well done on the full bladder' lol. Rushed off to the loo straight after though!

I had a full bladder for mine and was told to empty it during the scan too so she could see better

TobyLerone · 26/08/2013 10:23

I had mine last week and they called me in 15 minutes early so I hadn't had time to drink as much as I planned. I apologised to the sonographer and she said it didn't matter at the 20 week scan. I actually had to go and empty my bladder to try to convince the baby to move into a more favourable position. The stubborn little bugger It wouldn't move, so I have to go back again at the end of this week.

I had to have a full bladder for mine. Perhaps it depends on your internal plumbing?

LotsaTuddles · 26/08/2013 10:25

I think it depends in the hospital.

I did, it said so in my letter. But a friend of mine who's pg and went to a hospital down the road (but part of a different trust) was told not to and had to wee when the sonography called her name out

blondebaby111 · 26/08/2013 10:28

Thanx ladies. At my first scan I got told to empty and baby still wouldn't move so I had to go back once I've eaten, I just know this time will be the same lol! I think I'll drink some but not too much, it doesn't take much at the minute to fill me up so we'll see xx

I had to have a full bladder for mine - it was bloody agony!

Kelly1814 · 26/08/2013 11:22

nope.

i think if your hospital has the most super duper up to date technology, you don't. that's what mine told me.

RalphGnu · 26/08/2013 11:26

I didn't for mine, but I think my hospital did have the super duper up to date technology.

Good luck for your scan, it's amazing! On your twelve week one there's not much to see, but this one...wow. I was lucky enough to have students in for my scan and so it took a good 50 mins while the sonographer explained everything to the students and DP and I. Fascinating seeing your baby swim and flip about!
