I am between 5 and 6 weeks pregnant. For the last 3 days I have had discharge that has ranged between caramel and milk chocolate coloured (sorry TMI!). It has been getting slightly heavier, initially just noticing on toilet paper but now I am wearing a liner - there's no way I would need a pad as it's still light. I have an achy feeling in my lower stomach but not cramps or pain as such. I saw a GP yesterday who said it is a threatened miscarriage and has made an appt for a scan at an Early Pregnancy Unit in 4 days time. The wait is going to be terrible!

I am just looking for peoples' stories who have experienced the same thing - how did it end? Please don't worry about telling me the worst - I am prepared for this ending in miscarriage but at the moment I'm really not sure how common my symptoms are.

I'm really scared so anything you can say would be greatly appreciated xxx

I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through LadyLashes, I remember that awful feeling only too well.

I've had both sides tbh, I had brown spotting at 6 weeks which unfortunately did turn out to be a mc, but it very quickly turned red and heavy (within the day) it didnt go on for days.

I've also had it at 6 weeks sounding very similar to what you're describing which went on for 3 whole weeks and was just the worst time ever, I also had an early scan at epu and had convinced myself it was all over again, but it wasnt and I'm now 30 weeks!! The sonographer said its a very common time for implantation bleeding.

I hope thurs comes around quickly for you, I know the wait is awful but just keep saying to yourself it doesnt always mean the worst. Hopefully its just your baby snuggling in properly. Good luck x

ladylashes · 26/08/2013 14:29

Thank you PinkParsnips I'm so glad it worked out for you! Everything I've read says that implantation bleeding occurs around the time of your missed period (which was almost 2 weeks ago for me) so I thought it could possibly be that! Maybe my uterus is having a clear out...haha :-) xxx

Sorry to hear you're going through this, it's a terrible time Flowers

I found out I was pregnant at exactly 6 weeks. Was over the moon, if a little shocked. Bleeding and cramps started at 6+2 and I had an emergency scan at 6+3. I was so convinced I was miscarrying that I didn't even take any of my medication (vitamins, iron tablets etc) the night before my scan. I just thought "what's the point? My baby is dead." Then, when I had my scan and was expecting to be told the worst, the sonographer said "oh, I see a heartbeat." It was so unexpected and shocking that I burst into tears and was absolutely inconsoleable (Is that a word?) for about a half hour. I'm now 26+2 and just back from a growth scan showing that my little boy is growing perfectly.

I really hope it's the same for you - chances are that you'll be fine. I know it means nothing but try not to worry Flowers

PinkParsnips · 26/08/2013 14:39

Grin maybe!

Everything I read online while it was going on for me (my husband wishes he could take google away from me!!) seemed to say 6 weeks was late for an implantation bleed but they definitely said it wasn't.

Really hope it all works out well for you too, make sure you update us wont you x

That's such a wonderful story DaleyBump!! Think I will react in the exact same way if I get the good news on Thursday :-) Congrats on your scan and your healthy little one :-) xxx

Step away from Dr Google! Googling was one of the worst things I did during the early days - DP would often come home to find me in floods of tears telling him that Google said something else terrible had happened and, poor guy, he would just have to sit quietly while I snotted and cried all over him. I got myself so worked up, and for no reason! Everything was fine! :)

Iwasagnome · 26/08/2013 14:52

good luck -I bled quite badly with one of my pregnancies but it was fine-thinking of you, take care

ladylashes · 26/08/2013 15:10

Hahaha DaleyBump!! My guy has had to put up with similar. I'm sure if he hears another sentence starting: 'I've read on the Internet that apparently....' he'll scream! :-)

iwasagnome thank you, that's so sweet :-) xxx

lady Your bleeding may not be due to a threatened miscarriage though, it is more likely to be due to another reason, so I would say your odds are considerably higher than 50/50.

Congratulations on your wedding! I can understand why you are even more nervous about losing it. Once you have your scan on Thursday you will feel better - I often think the waiting for anything when you are worried is so hard.

ladylashes · 26/08/2013 17:44

monikar threatened miscarriage is such a horrible term isn't it? The dr I saw said that any bleeding in pregnancy is called a threatened miscarriage. It's good to know that based on my symptoms and your experience you think that I have more than a 50/50 chance....im not letting myself feel that positive yet!

Really need to find something to take my mind off everything until Thursday. Training for a triathlon was taking up a lot of time, but want to take it easy for the moment! I have my own small business but things are very quiet currently...ho hum! xxx

hi op

just wanted to say hope all is ok for you

i had a similar thing with my last pregnancy, at about 11 weeks, unfortunately in my case i had miscarried. but 4 months later i am 6 weeks pg again and have an early scan booked in 2 weeks (to find out if eveythings ok with this one or not )

but bleeding in early pg is very common and often nothing to worry about

come back and let us know how you get on Flowers

themarsh · 26/08/2013 21:14

Hi ladylashes,

I've had some similar symptoms to you - the same kind of spotting and dull aches at what I thought was 6 weeks.

I was sent for a scan and the technician told me I only looked about 5 weeks and that the baby might've stopped growing.. I was pretty frightened and really thought that meant I was having a miscarriage. I was then asked if I wanted to talk to a doctor. I did, and she told me everything looked fine for around 4.5 - 5 week pregnancy.

They booked me in for another scan at 2 weeks later and thankfully they could see development and even a heartbeat.

It was a very worrying experience but at the moment I'm 10 weeks and still going ok so fingers crossed. I've had a little spotting since then but don't worry about it too much. Also the aches can just be your uterus growing - I think a lot of that happens around 5 weeks.

All I can say is try not to worry too much as it'll make you feel worse. Try to think about other things until you have your scan.

Good luck! x
