Where will your baby sleep for the first 6 months?

Apologies if this this has already been discussed but where will your baby sleep for the first 6 months? I'm not sure whether to get a moses basket or not as conscious that baby can only sleep in it til around 3 months old. The cot will not fit in our bedroom and I want to keep baby in our room for the first 6 months ideally. Any thoughts/suggestions welcome!

we've bought an 'arms reach co-sleeper' for baby to sleep in for the first 6 month, then she'll be moved through to her crib!

Travel cot at the end of our bed and then normal cot in their own room, didn't want to waste money on a Moses basket and I thought a travel cot would be useful in future

Cot by our bed for first few months then will move cot upstairs to his own room. Will see how it goes!

Moses basket until 6 months old, same as DD did, then into cot. Although she did stay quite dinky for a long time, so impending DS may not fit in there for so long!

We are borrowing a Moses basket. Didn't use one for DD1, she slept in her carry cot from the pushchair. I intend to have Moses basket in with us for as long as we can manage it. Then move Moses basket inside cot.

Dc was on 91st centile for height and weight and stayed in Moses basket for nearly 7 months.

As recommended by someone on here because we can't fit a cot in our room, we bought this. Put it together at the weekend and really like it. It is on wheels so can have it by the bed if I want. We were going to use a travel cot but wanted to not have to reach down.

We are borrowing a gliding crib from a friend who's dc only used it until 5 months (it can also be fixed position) so only need to buy a mattress for it and they are not expensive

If needed we can fit the cot in our room for a month or so.

Moses basket only lasted 8 weeks here. DS hated not being able to stretch his arms properly and just didn't seem to have enough space (he is a big baby). We couldn't fit a proper cot in our bedroom so we got a travel cot. It was a very good investment, we now keep it downstairs (DS is 7 months old and in his own room in proper cot) and it works well as a kind of playpen, especially for those awkward moments when I need to leave (phone rings, someone's at the door etc) and need to make sure DS is safe.

This is a great idea if you have it in the 3-sided mode next to your bed you can reach LO without having to get up and they have the security of having you close too. My LO started sleeping in a similar one when she was a few months old and I wish I'd had it earlier and avoided all the lifting and messing about with the Moses basket. She is nearly two and still happy in there.

I haven't really got a clue. We have a Moses basket but no cot, dd was an appalling sleeper and I ended up co sleeping.

Might give the Moses basket a go but if its too difficult will cosleep again.

We've got a mothercare bedside cot that we used with ds2 so will be using that and kind of co-sleeping. I resorted to co-sleeping with both our boys as it was the only way anyone got any sleep. Some babies just hate moses baskets/being laid flat/not being with Mum or Dad. I feel like the bedside cot is the compromise between co-sleeping and baby being in their own space. Alternatively we also have a gliding wooden crib which is big enough for them to sleep in until around 6 months but I seriously doubt it'll get much use again this time around!

we're hiring an nct 'bednest' which is a side-car type cot that goes on the side of our bed. six months rental.

Anywhere but her bloody cot! So mainly in bed with me , never slept a night in her Moses basket.

We have a Moses basket for downstairs and a swinging crib for in our room for the first 6 months and then we have a cot bed in her room for when she is old enough to go into it.
So think I have everything possible lol xx

My first wasnt a fan of the moses basket so ended up in her own room in her cot at three months... So have bought a crib this time for our room for the start at least.. Not sure how long the new one will stay in our room though as i am a light sleeper and kept panicking with faith in my room. The one someone sted from john lewis looks like a good idea. I havent seen them before an a good price atm x

another NCT 'bednester' here - I'm buying one of a friend for £150 or you can hire them for six months for £109 which includes a new mattress. I like the idea of being able to hoik the baby straight into bed with me for feeding [hopeful]

Moses basket good but would only get one second hand (you should still buy a new mattress). We got a lovely one off eBay - there's always loads on there. Lasted just over 4 months before she got too big then into cot bed in own room.

hi Preggobear ive bought a moses basket for downstairs day naps and a crib for upstairs sleeping which is 0-6 months so not to bad at all then baby will be moving into a cot

Co-slept, but we built a wee "baby nook" off the side of the bed by dint of a deep-shelved Ikea unit and a foam pillow that brought it up to the right height. Which he never used - it was usually Mummy's upper torso taking refuge in there.

Your mileage may vary, but we never regretted not spending money on something we were just going to have to get rid of in a few months/years at most.
