Baby's position

Hiya, I hope some of you more experienced mums might be able to help me. I'm 32 weeks and I think baby's head is pushing against my ribs on the right side, and legs and feet kicking and pushing off of my hip on the left side. I often have a big bony lump sticking out of my bump by my ribs on the right and feel pretty much all movement on the lower left hand side. All I feel on the right in my ribs is a solid pressure, not kicking.

Dr google has said by now baby should be head down or at least breech. What position is my baby in if its like this and what does it mean? I'm not seeing the midwife for another two weeks and I'm curious, thanks in advance for any advice.

I had this and the MW said it was baby's bum, rather than head. Its v uncomfortable isnt it!
Don't worry yet though, if baby isnt in the right position there's still plenty of time for it to move

If the thing in my ribs is baby's bum, this baby is a contortionist!! That means she is kicking my hip bone above her head! I would love to be able to see inside and see what the hell she is doing in there. Grin

I'm exact same stage as you, and have the same problem.. baby is bottom up though and is using her hands/elbows to punch/tickle my hips and I get her legs up under my ribs.. makes the whole bump wriggle and jump when she's active, makes me jump too with the force her tiny body can make!

At 32 weeks I wouldn't sweat it. They move. DS2 was breech/transverse at 31 weeks, he was head down by 36 weeks.

For a bit of fun, have a go at belly mapping on spinningbabies.com to make an educated guess at your baby's position Grin.

Have a look around the site, its full of useful information.

Yep,sounds about right. That's exactly what this one was doing during my last scan! :)

HeffalumpTheFlump · 21/08/2013 13:18

My bump jerks and moves like that too! I love watching it, but it's getting to the point where the bony bit in my ribs can almost be painful. She feels so strong! I'm so sure it's legs down by my hips because it's definitely not a tickle, it's proper thumping kicks.

Does anyone else get the weird belly button feeling? When she's stretching out it makes my belly button go all tight from the inside like she's pulling on it. It's so weird.

I had the belly button thing at 2am the other night, it was like her hand or foot was coming out of it.. actually had to gently push it back in! It was like something out of alien! getting bored of not being able to sleep jow though, baby is obviously gwtting far too cramped and all the movements are far more forceful and prominent!

HeffalumpTheFlump · 21/08/2013 13:59

I know what you mean about sleep karma. My main issue is my back. I've got a pregnancy pillow, v shaped pillow, dh's pillows, but no combination seems to help the back pain.

The belly button thing makes me laugh. Dh put his finger in it the other day and could feel her rooting around behind it. It was a very strange moment!

My baby is definitely starting to feel cramped in there too. Some of her stretching is quite uncomfortable.
