Do you have a blood test at 12 week scan?

Just hoping someone wise can tell me whether you have a blood test at the 12 week scan? I was under the impression that i would because i chose to have the NT test which i thought combined a scan and a blood test but one of my friends who gave birth last year said her odds were based on scan only so now i'm confused!

Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks x

I had a combined test, so had bloods and a scan. Can you ring your hospital and ask?

I had a blood test for the combined test and all sorts of other conditions at my 12 week appointment.

I also had a blood test as part of the combined test but perhaps some hospitals just go off the scan or use the booking bloods? You could ask your mw or ring the hospital to check procedures? X

Yep - bloods for the nuchal screening test. TBH I didn't even know what was happening to me and it does depend upon the health care provider whether you have the blood test or not.

Give them a call and ask.

I never had a blood test with my old PCT down in SE London for my first two pregnancies, but they changed their rules in 2010 and I had one with DS. I think everywhere is different.

I had general bloods at 12 weeks, and bloods for the combined screaning at 16 weeks.

Thanks all - yes i rang the hospital and they put me through to the 'early pregnancy unit' because i'm only 12 weeks pregnant - i spoke to a lady who was no help at all and said she wasn't the best person to ask as the tests are done in another section to hers. I asked if she could put me through to someone else and she said she didn't know who would know! Didn't fill me with confidence! I'll just have to wait and see but it sounds like lots of you had a blood test so that's good x
