  1. Here

And 41 in other places because that's actually more realistic

Thundercatsarego · 05/09/2013 08:33

So when they say 13+6 they're about right

CatsCantFlyFast · 05/09/2013 08:33

40 I think Kat, on all my notes it says stuff like my next app is 16/40 so I'm assuming the 40 is full term
Was reading last night about some new studies about pregnancy duration which suggest there can be a natural up to 37 day variance in pregnancy length and that our docs intervene too early because of the set 40 weeks (and the fact that late O, long cycles etc are ignored when dating, plus dating scans are notoriously inaccurate)
As an example when they measured CRL at my scan on wed she did it three times and each time got a different date, between 11 weeks and 11+5

Cavort · 05/09/2013 09:03

I think 37 weeks is classed as full term by HCP's but average gestation is 40 weeks or 41+3 for first timers - sorry ladies.

Cavort · 05/09/2013 09:18

And apologies if you've already seen it, but when I was upduffed I liked this site as it gives you daily development updates rather than the weekly ones you see everywhere else.

MotherOfCleo · 05/09/2013 10:38

Ohh that's cool cav! I liked the fruit size comparison ones too, made it more 'real life' for me some how. I am less keen on the fact that mine is currently a pineapple. Confused

Yes 40 weeks is when they say you are 'due'. What confuses me a bit is that it works out as 10 months if you take each month as 4 weeks. But anything from 37/38 weeks is full term. Babies lungs are full developed from 28 or 30 weeks I think so babies born after then are usually fine.

I get confused though as I'm 31 weeks, which equates to 7.75 months but I have 9 weeks till my EDD. Think I'm just a bit simple though. Obviously each month isn't 4 weeks which is where I have tried to over simplify things.

Sorry that's all probably really unhelpful. Blush

My booking in appointment was 20 minutes late. I had got there early so shared the waiting room with lots of new babies or heavily pg women. Felt very uncomfortable. When it was my turn I found out I'd been booked in on the wrong day. Booking in appointments are only on Mondays. I'd made it very clear what I needed when I booked the appointment and even questioned that it was a Thursday appointment as I'd been told they were done on Mondays. Anyway, apparently I wasn't the only one this had happened to today. And it was only a 15 minute appointment so they couldn't do it. Next Monday is full. The following monday might be 'too late'. Eh?! She asked my dates and I told her about the spotting and then the other spotting last week and told her I was on clomid. She asked if I was anxious and I burst into tears. Sad She's got me a scan this afternoon. Grin . I can't get hold of DP though and all I can hear in my head is my mate saying 'never go to a scan on your own'. Confused The midwife asked me if I'd be able to find someone to go with.
I'm trying not to freak out.

Oh dear barking you don't need a morning like this- not good that they cocked up your booking. Can you find someone to go with you this afternoon if you can't get hold if DH?

barkingtreefrog · 05/09/2013 12:15

I've managed to get through to a mate who works in the same school and he's going to pass a message on to DP to call me at lunchtime in 20 minutes. Then I'll have to wait to find out whether he's going to be able to leave work or not Confused . Only people I know not at work are the two friends on maternity, one is about to pop with twins (literally today I think) so she's not going anywhere, and the other has a newborn.

barkingtreefrog · 05/09/2013 12:34

DP just said he'll tell them at school what is happening and meet me at the hospital Grin .

Thundercatsarego · 05/09/2013 12:35

What times the scan?

And where are you? I'll skive off and come with you!

Thundercatsarego · 05/09/2013 12:35

Oops cross post. Sorted!

PoppySeedBun · 05/09/2013 12:41

Oh barking what a nightmare. Half OH can go with you. Grrr to receptionists who don't know what they're doing but yay for strategic crying and extra scans! Smile

Thundercatsarego · 05/09/2013 12:44

poppy I think her entire DP is going, not just half Wink

Brodicea · 05/09/2013 12:48

Oooer barking - good luck this afternoon! So glad you don't have to wait any longer!

barkingtreefrog · 05/09/2013 12:55

Aw, thanks Thunder Smile .

DP told his headteacher what was happening and he was apparently really nice, just said they'd all been there and just go when he needed to Smile .

Called my mum as she knew the appointment was this morning but she managed to upset me by pointing out that in her day they didn't know they were pg until 12 weeks as had to miss two periods before you went to the doctor to get tested, so all these early mc didn't exist. Comments like that make me wish I hadn't told her Confused .

CatsCantFlyFast · 05/09/2013 13:21

Good luck barking. What time is it? (Your scan, not right now)

Brodicea · 05/09/2013 13:24

My mum said pretty much the same thing, except along the lines of, 'I don't know why you're bothering with vitamins and cutting out caffeine, and booze in my day we didn't even know for two months!'

Hmm
barkingtreefrog · 05/09/2013 14:22

Scan is at 3.15 merk. Just off to give the dog a pathetically short walk to make me feel slightly less guilty for not giving him a really long walk after my appointment this morning as originally planned Sad .

OP posts:
Thundercatsarego · 05/09/2013 14:40

Good luck barking (the scan not the walk). It's brilliant they're offering you this, and rightly so. Let us know- we'll be thinking of you x

CatsCantFlyFast · 05/09/2013 14:48

And get a pic (if you can achieve where I failed!)

Thundercatsarego · 05/09/2013 14:53

You can always get DP to take one on his phone- that's what they offered for us to do at the private scan.

PoppySeedBun · 05/09/2013 15:06

Good luck barking! (And sorry about the typo - that should have been glad!)

Just having a micro-panic here - have had my first red spotting. Really small amounts, but still got me stupidly worried. Having to restrain myself from pants-watch more than once an hour Hmm though this week was going better, but now every hour seems to drag out. Hmm

Re: weeks and months conversion, a month is (on avg) 4.33 weeks. Calcs should work if you use that.

CatsCantFlyFast · 05/09/2013 15:10

Poppy I know the feeling. Can you call GP/EPU?
