Crossing everything for you tally what a horrible time you're having Thanks

Thundercatsarego · 04/09/2013 15:01

Oh tally you poor poor thing. I totally understand why you'd want it to be over but that scan is a great thing. Just got everything crossed that the sickness buggers off very soon indeed.

merk my 10 week scan put me 2 days ahead so that would be 22nd March but obviously the dating scan will be more accurate. However am not feeling good about it at all, getting thyroid blood test results today and still being too high has just made me panic again. Damnit.

CatsCantFlyFast · 04/09/2013 15:03

Thunder what does the thyroid test mean? For some reason I thought your last scan was your dating scan... When's that then?

Thundercatsarego · 04/09/2013 15:28

Basically my thyroid gland cant produce enough thyroid hormone so I take a synthetic replacement. The hormone is very important for baby's brain development so my levels are being carefully monitored during pregnancy as they are likely to change as my body needs more of the hormone. So my meds are being adjusted in line. For pregnancy they recommend your levels (actually another hormone which is an indicator) should be within a smaller range than just normally (so between 0.5-2 rather than 0.5-5). Before conceiving I'd got my level down to 1.5- perfect! When I got my bfp they'd gone up to 4.6, so I increase my dose and met the specialist. Now they are 4.2, so still too high! The specialist says this is ok to be out of range as long as meds are checked (and changed if nec) regularly but it's still a worry to me.

Sorry for long explanation!

My last scan was my private one at 10 weeks. My dating scan is this Saturday when I'll be around 12 weeks. 2 more days.....

Ooh, yes, here you are, berries! Just popping on to congratulate me ol' mucker Merks. I am beyond thrilled that your baby is healthy and strong. I have yet to see even a single arm on my baby so am preparing for one with just legs Grin

Best wishes to all you berries in these difficult first trimester weeks. I promise the anxiety lifts at 12 weeks but not necessarily the nausea x

CatsCantFlyFast · 04/09/2013 16:43

Very smug about seeing TWO arms now!
What's everyone doing about finding out the sex? I want to know and MIL OH doesn't

barkingtreefrog · 04/09/2013 18:24

Wow, that must have been amazing Merk, glad all was more than ok Grin .

DP wants to know the sex. I'm not massively bothered but would probably have gone down the line of not knowing, especially as my mate was tols she was having a boy after two girls and then gave birth to a third girl....

Tally so sorry you're suffering so badly Sad . Hope they can keep it under better control now.

I've got my booking in appointment in the morning. Still not convinced I'm actually pg. Feel like I'm being a fraud! The only difference is being able to talk to pg colleague without bursting into tears. I couldn't do that with the colleague who just left on maternity. So maybe my hormones think I'm pg and my head needs to catch up? These last 3 days at work have flown by. I wish the next 5 weeks could go as quickly so I can get my scan and see proof of a real, living baby inside me. Collegue didn't get her scan until 14 weeks though, and I'll be going to the same hospital. ...

CatsCantFlyFast · 04/09/2013 19:00

Barking are you planning on having Downs screening? Because the last day they can check nuchal translucency is 13+6 I think. So you should def get a scan before 14 weeks.
I think the disbelief is normal, I'm certainly feeling like its not real. Even on the same day as seeing a baby thrashing around inside me!
Booking helps, you will get your notes and feel more official.
Where is everyone at now? Can we have an update?

Brodicea · 04/09/2013 19:21

I know what you mean barking. My booking in appointment is next Tuesday - I do wonder if I've just gone crazy, like a lady from a Channel Five afternoon movie, and they'll hound me from the room. Let us know how you get on!

Update:
brodicea, 5weeks +5, very tired, very bloated and the sense of smell of a hunting dog.

CatsCantFlyFast · 04/09/2013 19:24

Brod perhaps we could all go truffling with our amazing noses and make a fortune!

Wimwom · 04/09/2013 19:27

Hoorah for merk - so pleased to read that!
thunder I have thyroid issues too - reminded me I must get mine checked, how much have they upped you?
brod - my husband jokes I am now like a beagle - scent driven! Weird isn't it - if only I could drink wine to give my full new sense of smell it's due Smile

haycorn · 04/09/2013 21:07

Oh Merk, that's great news! It must have been so amazing to see it wriggling around full of life!

Tally, please don't feel guilty for just wanting to feel better. My nausea hasn't been anything like as bad as yours but there have still been moments when I have just wanted to be back to normal for a while. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you. I am just telling myself that (as long as it hangs on in there) every sicky day that goes by is one less that I will have to suffer in the future. I really hope things get a bit easier for you.

Merk soooo pleased that your wriggler is well and happy! Checked in earlier as couldn't bear not knowing but been at work all day so couldn't comment Grin

Tally you poor thing. I might bitch and moan about not feeling sick but having seen the ladies with hyperemesis on the ward I wouldn't wish that on anyone, and especially not such a lovely berry. I hope the steroids keep it at bay for you x

Thunder are you the next scan then? Eee 12 weeks, that's amazing...how did that fly by so fast?

7 weeks today here, and just found out I've got an NHS scan next Tuesday (shouldn't really have it, perk of being in the business I guess Grin) and suddenly I'm utterly terrified. It'll be 7+6, and last time everything stopped at 8+2 so really wish it was a bit later, but might move the private scan I had booked to 9 weeks to reassure myself again. Am an absolute quivering paranoid mess and convinced that there'll be nothing in there, or no heartbeat. Think I need a good solid wang with a robust sausage.

CatsCantFlyFast · 04/09/2013 22:26

I wonder if anyone has ever turned up to their 12 week scan and actually not been pregnant. As in imagined it all or faked it all or had false positive tests or something...
I was convinced at my first scan that there would be nothing there!

Thundercatsarego · 04/09/2013 23:14

Wim they've upped me by 25mcg. My advice is we try to keep TSH below 2. If results show TSH between 2 and 5, dose is increased by 25mcg. If its more than 5 its 50mcg.

boom yeah I think it's me next. Just frightened now already. Gone fast??? Eh???

Boomgoestheweasel · 05/09/2013 06:51

It's gone fast for you. For me, it's taking FOOOREVER. We obviously exist in different time zones, I don't remember you getting diffed 5 weeks before me!

Thundercatsarego · 05/09/2013 07:27

It hasn't gone fast for me! It's been like trying to run whilst waist high in golden syrup. Bah.

barkingtreefrog · 05/09/2013 07:28

Other people's pregnancies fly by thunder, you and merk are almost to the finish line compared to me at 7+3 in my distorted head!! Wink Shock

OP posts:
barkingtreefrog · 05/09/2013 07:38

Ok, as an example of how crazy I am feeling right now I just pimped as I didn't want to go to my booking in appointment without checking that I was actually pg Blush Hmm

The line was actually there before the control line became clear but instead of reassuring me I just told myself that it's no guarantee everything is ok in there as I'd still have enough of the right hormones to make a bfp. Confused .

Someone give me a sausage slap before I drive myself insane!!!!

Thundercatsarego · 05/09/2013 07:43

We just had an extra cycle of sitting on our own fretting! Well I did, merk is much more sensible than me.

barking! You plonker. Enjoy booking in though, it is quite fun answering all the questions. It didn't make me feel any more pregnant though, just like I was nodding and smiling to this lovely lady who a) thinks its actually real and b) seems to have no idea it's all going to go wrong. What a fool!

PoppySeedBun · 05/09/2013 07:44

Oh dear - sausages all round this morning!
I could join in too - I think I finally have a regime that works for keeping the sickness at bay. It basically just involves me eating non stop from bed in the morning to bed at night Smile
So far, favourite weapons are mini bars of Soreen malt loaf, almonds, and soft pretzels.
But of course, the alternative explanation is that the symptoms are just disappearing because its all stopped Blush
Can't wait for scan next week at 8w. Hoping that seeing a heartbeat will be a good milestone - never got as far as one last time.

CatsCantFlyFast · 05/09/2013 08:01

For me the first 4 to 5 weeks seemed endless, especially after finding out so early. However even now it seems like years until the finish line!
I was looking forward to 12 weeks telling myself i would be a third of the way through but then realised I wouldn't be. Why do you go into your second tri before you're a third of the way trough it??

Thundercatsarego · 05/09/2013 08:24

I think you go into second tri at 14 weeks
