Does my midwife book in my first scan when I'm at my booking in appointment or should I be receiving a letter for that separately?

I have my booking in appointment a week on Wednesday when I will be 11+5 but haven't received anything about a scan thus far...

I don't want to get to the booking in appointment and be told my scan is that day as OH can't make that visit, so need to know in advance if he needs to change his plans.

my midwife was supposed to book my first scan but forgot/didn't somehow.

I'd call your midwife or midwife team and just ask if they have made the appointment (this is what I did when I hadn't heard anything), if not you might be able to make it with your anti-natal unit yourself.

you should then get a letter with the appointment details and some info on what the scan is for (eg downs test) from the hospital. I did at least.

hope that helps.

My MW organised the 12 week scan - I got a letter through the post. All pretty well organised and easy up til now :) this is my first and I'm nearly 21 weeks :)

Thanks ladies Smile I'll give them a quick call for peace of mind.

I got my date/time for my booking in with MW and my scan at the same time in the same letter. I'm in Wales so not sure if that makes a difference.

I got an "early pregnancy pack" from my GP when I firt found out and I had to fill on a form in the back of a booklet that was part of this pack.

No one told me, but I phoned the obstetric ultrasound department to ask how you booked as I couldn't get a booking in appt until nearly 11 weeks. You could try phoning GP surgery and leaving message for midwife or try phoning ultra sound department at the hosp.
