Heartbeat at 9 weeks but now bleeding at 11 weeks

Hi everyone, I've never written on a forum before and would really appreciate some advice. I'm 11 weeks pregnant with first child (had MC last year). We paid for a private scan at 9 weeks as couldn't wait to find out if there was a heartbeat and everything was fine then. Now, two weeks before we are due to have the dating scan, I've started bleeding slightly but with no cramps. Terrified that I'm going to lose this baby too. I don't feel as nauseas as I did before either. Should I expect the worst?

Can you get in touch with your midwife?
Sorry you're going through this.

Phone the midwife/doctor and go for a scan. That is the only way to put your mind at rest.

I bled early on and all was fine.

It's normal to feel less nauseated at this point. There's also lots of benign explanations for blood, as scary as it is - hopefully it is one of those!

You do need to get a scan to find out for sure though. A&E would refer you to the EPU, or you could ring a private place and see if they have appointments today.

Good luck!

Thanks very much for your replies. I have managed to get a scan booked for tomorrow morning. It's going to be a long day today!

I had a big bleed at around 10 weeks (after previous MC so I know what it's like). I now have a 13mo boy so please try not to worry. I also didn't feel nauseous much.

Good luck tomorrow.

I'd ring the EPU and see what their referral policy is. Most you can self refer now and they should see you asap for a scan.

Hope everything turns out ok for you. Good luck.

justpoppy · 19/08/2013 11:41

oops cross post. Hope the scan goes well.

I had this too, also following a previous miscarriage. Early scan showed heartbeat, big bleed at 11 or 12 weeks. Not just spotting - lots enough to soak a sanitary towel. I thought it was all over again - but she is now 11. Hope all is well with you but do contact your midwife for epu scan to put your mind at rest. Never did get an answer as to why I bled - one of those things. Did not have it again with next 2 pregnancies.

Hi Newbs, I had a private scan a week ago (at 7wks 5 days) because me and hubby wanted to know that everything was ok, which thankfully it was. However, the next morning I started spotting and had to have another scan via the EPAU the following day. Thankfully my 2nd scan was also fine and there was a nice strong heartbeat.

What is your blood loss like? Mine was initially pink tinged and only upon wiping after having a wee - it then progressed to being present in my underwear but a dark brown colour. I was also having quite bad stomach aches and crampy sensations. The bleeding had started on the Thursday and I had my scan on the Friday morning. The bleeding lasted until about Saturday afternoon and thankfully I have had nothing since.

The midwife I saw couldn't give me an explanation as to why I'd been spotting but said that for some women it 'just happens'.

The best of luck tomorrow x x

Thanks for your message writerwannabe83. I'm glad that your scan went well. My blood was bright red and just on the tissue when wiping but no bleeding since.

How did it go today?

How did it go op x

Thank you everyone for your replies. We had a scan yesterday and it was fine! He was moving around and had a strong heartbeat. We really were expecting the worst so are over the moon. The nurse said she could see what looked like an implantation bleed on the ultrasound.

My thoughts are with the people who have posted recently who haven't been as lucky x

I am so pleased to hear this! Really glad you have an answer and everything looks great Smile

Writerwannabe83 · 21/08/2013 10:26

Brilliant news!!! I'm so happy for you!!!!! Grin

I'm trying to convince my hubby to pay for me to have a scan at the end of next week but I'm not getting very far Smile

I know we got the 'ok' from the NHS scan and I've had no more bleeding but I'd still like to be REALLY sure that baby is ok Grin

Newbs · 21/08/2013 10:41

Good luck with convincing your husband Writerwannabe83! Really hope everything works out for you.

I still get to have my dating scan in two weeks too - the more scans the better I say!
