The soles of my feet are itching like crazy. Its becoming all I can think about.

This is my third pregnancy and I've never had this before.

What on earth is it and how can I make it stop?

I would call your midwife - I'm sure all is fine but persistent itching can be a sign of obstetric cholestasis, which I think is something to do with the liver. Try not to worry too much but I would try to speak to someone about it.

I'd mention it to a doctor as itchy hands/feet can be a sign of something (I've forgotten what but someone will say) to do with your liver, a pg related thing which they might want to test for.

That said, it could be that your skin is more sensitive now. I have eczema on the sole of my foot which I only seem to have noticed since being about 6 months pregnant (didn't notice last pregnancy either). I got a steroid cream from the doctor, and use Oilatum and my DD's Aveeno cream so they don't itch so much at night. Flexitol and La Roche Posay sensitive skin products also good.

ps look at what shoes you're wearing too - I had to throw out my cheapo flip flops as I am certain they made it worse!

Or could you possibly have Athlete's Foot?

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 17/08/2013 10:39

Yep, just run it past your midwife or GP. It could be Cholestasis.

StrawberryMojito · 17/08/2013 10:50

I had obstetric cholestasis and this was how it started for me. I think I was about 37 weeks when my feet started itching. By 38 weeks my legs were itching madly too. I called the midwife who told me to go to the hospital for a test. They tested me there and then, admitted me and induced me as I was full term.

StrawberryMojito · 17/08/2013 11:05

Sorry, I should add, if it is OC, don't worry about it, they will most likely just monitor you to term then induce you at full term.

Could just be itchy feet though.
