Hi ladies, i am 18 weeks today and have been having symptoms of a UTI. I get a burning sensation when going for a wee and also got some abdominal
Pains when peeing just before I was going to bed. I rang the ooo doctors Just now and they said I should go and see them. I asked them if I could get an appointment in the morning rather than heading out in the niddle of the night, but since this will be a new shift I would have to call again. The nurse or doc I spoke to made me feel really bad about wanting to wait until the morning as this condition could cause preterm labour and that I am taking a risk. I am feeling really bad now about what she said.. Not sure what I answers I am looking for right now.. DH said I should just go to sleep and wait until the morning.. Anybody out there right now with experiences of this?

Don't worry I have had at least 5 uti's through my pregnancy and have waited up to 2 weeks from sample to prescription so I doubt waiting overnight will be too much trouble xx

Thanks that's more reassuring. I have asked them to ring me back again as my symptoms worsened and then I will ask them how quickly I could be getting ABs..

I've had chronic cystitis since I was 11 so I don't bother with prescriptions because I have my own coping methods and sometimes by time you've seen doc/got a prescription you're already better and it was pointless! I only go now if it's really bad. Anyway I told midwife and consultant (we're having to see consultant for other reasons anyway) and they didn't seem bothered, just said its common to get during pregnancy anyway even if you've never had a uti before, didn't hear any of this bringing on early labour stuff either. But I did give a sample at my appointment at 24 weeks and this other midwife seemed to act as though it was this huge deal because they suspected a uti even though I explained about my medical history. I've noticed a lot of midwifes react very different to different things, my thinking now is if you feel you need to see somebody immediately then don't take no for an answer and in the same respect if you feel it's not a "middle of the night" thing and you can see doc in the morning then don't let them make you feel bad, only you know your body and how you're feeling. Hope you feel better soon Thanks x

I've had about 5 or 6 during this pregnancy. I would be ok waiting overnight but I wouldn't wait any longer as some say.

One of mine had no symptoms and started triggering Brixton hicks for me from 15 weeks. They can get very seriouslvery quickly.

At 24 weeks my babys head engaged due to another one, it was terrifying.

do make sur you go in ASAP today.once youmget some antibiotics it will go quickly.

good luck.

Thanks for all your replies. I spoke to another ooo doctor last night and he said that I shouldn't come out in the middle of the night because of a UTI and wait until the morning instead. Am now waiting at ooo doctors surgery..
