if your expected due date by LMP was very different to scanned due date, what happened?

My LMP was 9th November and I was having regular cycles of 29-31 days. I wasn't testing or anything, but was tracking via an app on my phone which said I should be ovulating around 23rd Nov so we DTD a few times around that date.

Was therefore expecting AF around 10th December, when it didn't arrive I tested 14th Dec and got a BFP.

So by LMP, today (16th Aug) would have been my due date. However, at (what I thought was) 12 week scan, they measured the baby around 11 days behind, then at the 20 week scan, they measured me at around 15 days behind and revised my EDD to 31st August.

But for me to have an actual EDD of 31st august, it would mean I'd have had to have conceived around the 10th December which makes it very unlikely I'd have had a positive (budget supermarket) test 4 days later. It has me a little bit concerned that my baby is measuring small rather than was conceived 2 weeks later and that there may be something wrong.

This is my second child, my first was born 10 days early. So I am also getting rather impatient! What I don't want is a scenario where I still haven't given birth by 31st August as the hospital won't induce until mid September by which time I will have (in my opinion) been pregnant for more than 10 months!

if you had a discrepancy between your LMP due date and scanned date, what happened? Was the baby born when you thought it would be or when the scan said it would be?

My friend had her due date put forward by nearly two weeks to a date that was pretty much impossible in terms of when they had been trying (she had been playing close attention to dates iykwim!). Her baby came spot on his due date.

LMP date 29th Dec, but I knew it wasn't as irregular cycles and also I knew when we DTD! My estimate was 13th Jan, scan EDD 11th Jan.

At the "12 week" scan they measure me as 10 + 5, changed due date to 11th January and that overruled the GP's estimation based on LMP as scan is more accurate.

I then went 12 days overdue and was induced at 40 + 12 (based on scan dates- nearly a month over by LMP!) but DS actually came out 7lb 2, not massive and didn't look that overdue...

Hope some of this is helpful & you get a baby out soon!

I had seriously erratic periods. Found out I was pregnant well along the way at about 17 weeks. A "dating scan" two weeks later put me at 19+3, with an EDD of 19 Dec.

Failed induction on 26 Dec, so had an "elective" CS.

DS was 10lb 11oz and my placenta had started to calcify, so he was seriously overcooked!

thanks very much for your experiences - gosh i really hope mine doesn't "overcook" like yours, moose, placenta beginning to calcify sounds a little worrying! Also reassuring to know that things can also be fine when a month "over", gruber but I'll be so fed up if I have to wait another month for this wean to arrive.

LMP date 8th august
My calculation based on ovulation 6th Aug_ day 12 not 14 of cycle,
EDD based on scan 2nd Aug- put this down to him being long!
Went into labour 6th and had DS very early on 8th.

I was temping and doing opks so I knew when I ovd. My due date should have been 10th October but the scan dated me at 3rd October so 1 week earlier.
DS was born on 18th September so that would be 36+6 by my dates or 37+6 by scan dates. Xx
