Blocked nose!

16+1 and my nose feels all blocked and stuffy. I keep sneezing and keep getting headaches.
I've never suffered with hayfever before. It feels like a cold without the runny nose and generally feeling unwell. My blocked nose is doing my head in! Is this a pregnancy thing?

I've got it - it could be pregnancy rhinitis if it doesn't improve - NHS link

I've had a stuffy nose and tickly cough throughout my entire pregnancy (I'm 38 weeks today). Its nothing to worry about but it is irritating

I have this, my consultant told me not to worry at all. The relaxin that makes our pelvis get bigger also effects your nose, thinking the baby might be coming out of there too, causing it to get blocked!

Oh thank goodness it's not just me! I've been snuffling away for the past two weeks but no sign of a cold or anything, just a stuffy and blocked nose. Another unsuspected joy of pregnancy!

I was already suffering with recurring rhinitis. I didn't realise pregnancy would ramp it up a level!

Any remedies we are allowed? I am just inhaling steam and sleeping with too many pillows.

Also the nose blowing and sneezing is straining all my tummy muscles or ligaments.

I've been using Olbas Oil on my pillow freaking

Dunno if it's due to pg, or the fact I can't take antihistamines any more but my nose is so itchy I want to rip it off.

I have this. I kept getting headaches which were agony and would last for days. Have just been prescribed antibiotics.

SPBisResisting · 21/08/2013 19:14

Wasabi will sort you lot out

NoisyBrain · 21/08/2013 19:23

I've had it all through my pregnancy too. I've also used olbas oil in desperation (steam does bugger all for me), though I think it's one of those things they advise you to avoid because they can't test it to prove it's safe Blush

I've had a blocked/stuffy nose for ages. Combination of summer cold and pregnancy. I've just bought some Nasosol nasal saline spray from the baby aisle in Tesco yesterday and its worked a treat.

Thisisfreakingmeout · 24/08/2013 17:56

Mmm wasabi, or proper English mustard might do it. I wasn't sure about olbas so haven't used it but I am getting very little sleep or turning into a mouth-breather all night.

Hope it's a phase!
