Go to the chemist and ask for ranitidine tablets. I don't think you need a prescription. I take two a day and couldn't be without it. It stops the acid reflux totally and makes life bearable again!!

But if you get a prescription you won't have to pay for it while you are pregnant.

I lived off rennies in my last pregnancy - they might help in the short term? Horrible isn't it :(

I second Omeprazole. Bloody awesome stuff.

FreckleyGirlAbroad · 15/08/2013 19:06

It is perfectly safe in pregnancy although the paper thing inside packet tells you the usual about caution during pregnancy. It was my consultant who first prescribed it for me so I trust it's safe. I couldn't wait for an appointment either with gp when I needed to get a new prescription so just bought over the counter. If I miss taking one I notice straight away as the dreaded fire balls/burps start up again.

CrispyFB · 15/08/2013 19:20

Omeprazole.. now!! Nothing else touched mine, I felt like I was dying.

My doctor had no problems with the prescription. He did it over the phone in fact - I rang the surgery, doctor rang back 5 minutes later, I picked up the prescription 10 minutes later and after a further 15 minutes had my pills! So maybe a phone call tomorrow morning might be an idea?

Since I started taking it a week ago my heartburn has disappeared. And I'd had it for weeks.

The nausea, on the other hand..!
