You know the theory that if the heartbeat sounds like horses it's a girl and train for a boy as a girls heartbeat is faster....?? Was this true for you? I heard heartbeat today... Definitely a slower train one. Wonder if I'm having a boy?!GrinGrin Have a dd and ds already. I can remember listening closely but can't remember if they corresponded or not. Just speculating... Wink

My midwife subscribed to this theory. Every single time she listened to the heartbeat in my last pregnancy she said it was a girl. It wasn't Grin.

I thought my babies sounded like a train...she was def a girl when she came out though!

this time early on i reconised a train like sound and it is indeed a boy lol my girls sounded like a gallop x

My first couple of scans (9 weeks and 12) showed a heartbeat of 165+ leading everyone to comment that I was def having a girl!! However, found out at 20 weeks he's a boy.

Since then the twice the midwife has listened the rates been down at 135! Little bugger was messing with me ;-)

I think it's a nice theory to play with, but in my experience, not that accurate :-)

I've never heard this before! Grin Both mine sounded like a boxer skipping (the noise of the rope hitting the gym floor superfast) 2 x DS. Smile

Anatomically males and females have the same kind of heart that pumps in the exact same way. That goes for all organs. I can't see how it would make a different sound between the sexes!

I did hear that it's only the speed of the heartbeat during labour which can give an indication, rather than during pregnancy more generally. Whether that's another myth I'm not sure but by then you're so close to finding out for real that it's not particularly helpful!
