Hello all,
I have just found out that I am pregnant! I went to my GP who calculated my due date as 23/04/14 so I am very early, 4 weeks today!
I have no idea where to start really. I am absolutely terrified as I am very overweight (loss of 3 stone and counting!) but I was just wondering what other mums experiences are?
Thanks in advance xx

Firstly congratulations!

I've got a bmi of over 40 this time and I'm 11+5 with dc3. My bmi was over 40 with my ds1 and just under 40 having lost 3 stone with my ds2. I've had 2 healthy babies weighing 9lbs and 8lbs 13oz so big but not above average.

Both labours have been fine and with ds2 I ended up not having any pain relief and only pushing for 3 minutes! I'm actually hoping to have a home birth this time if I can convince the consultant. Again both times my blood pressure has actually been on the low side and I've not had gestational diabetes either time. Basically I've had straight forward pregnancies and labours.

The risks for us are slightly higher but that doesn't mean were doomed to have complications no matter what the HCP's might suggest! Good luck with your pregnancy hope you are lucky and have a lovely straight forward time. As people have said stay away from the online horror stories!!

I'm overweight too (can't remember by how much/bmi) and GP said shouldn't worry about it just try and be healthy but at 9wks My sickness is just getting worse and all I can manage is biscuits and bread most of the time. Lots of the time I can't even manage my meds (non preg or weight related ones) or vitamins Confused

Oh no bebop that's so bad, can the GP not help? I feel so bad for the sicky mums. I could only eat croissants while on holiday so put on 6lbs!!
