Am 17w pg with 2nd child, and getting myself in a tizz. Started to notice movement (flutters, bubbles bursting etc) at about 15w, and heard heartbeat at midwife appt last week. But much less movement over last 2 days, and today have had some vague crampy/stitchy pains, partic behind belly button. Feeling a bit anxious

Get yourself checked out at the maternity assessment ward. Hope everything turns out ok Smile

I agree - get yourself checked out.

But at this point the baby could easily move so that you can't feel it so strongly.

Thanks for replying. I sort of hoped I was worrying overly - am scared Sad

It's always best to check it out, even just for peace of mind. But movements will change - I had a whole day last week where I didn't feel the baby at all, then that night, it went crazy! Sometimes it depends on the baby and your placenta's positioning.

Also, re. the cramps, it could be your muscles stretching. Easier said than done but try not to worry until you've seen someone - it could be a number of things.

Let us know how you get on.

Have you got an early pregnancy unit?

ASmidgeofMidge · 14/08/2013 19:14

Not sure... Blush - am thinking not as MAU would have suggested it? They suggested ooh midwives or failing that, a&e so someone from gynae could see me?

Ok, stay calm, try not to worry. It's still early to be feeling loads of movement, but best get checked. Go have a cup of tea and wait for them to call back. (((Hugs)))

Flowers to all of you... Keeping fingers crossed

If u google early pregnancy unit in your area they will normally see you but it would be tomorrow.
If you are worried it may be worth going to a and e and getting checked out. Personally I would go as you will only stress yourself out more worrying about it and waiting to see someone.
I had lots if crampy pains around the same time though and the midwife said it was just everything stretching.
Hope all goes well. Let us know xx

Midwife has rung to say movement can be quite sporadic at this stage & thinks pain is stretching/muscle hurty from uterus pushing things out of the way as its growing. She says not concerned-am going to try & chill in a warm bath. Thanks again all

I wouldn't worry about lessening movement. I am 16 weeks with dc3, but as in my other 2 pregnancies there is no identifiable pattern of movement yet. I have been having some muscle cramps from the uterus stretching.

Hope you feel better after your bath.

Hope you have managed to relax a bit op. Just wanted to offer some reassurance, at 17 weeks I had days where I felt nothing and other days when I felt lots of movement. My midwife explained that at that stage the baby is still so small they can easily move into positions where you cannot feel them at all. I also had cramping/stretching at that stage and im now 31 weeks and baby is just fine so far :)

ASmidgeofMidge · 14/08/2013 22:23

Thank you all. Still quiet on the baby front but am trying to chill out & not worry.
