Dont know what you have tried so far, how about ginger biscuits and I stopped myself from being sick the other night by dropping a few drops of peppermint essential oil on a tissue. It did the trick for me. btw i am not pregnant so double check with your local Holland & Barrett or Midwife (although I found them not very knowledgeable in essential oils) before you use. I had these oils through my pregnancy at and at the delivery but you know how things move on, so best to check eh!Smile

trinityrhino · 14/06/2006 12:19

thanks tena Smile

Oh. I only asked because I only felt slightly sick with my 4th pregnancy and it turned out I was carrying twins although I lost one early on. I just wondered if you were feeling sick for the first time, if you were carrying twins!

trinityrhino · 14/06/2006 12:24

lol No, it's not twins, we've seen the little 'peanut' on the scan and it is just one.

so sorry to hear about your loss Sad

Looks like I'm just destined to feel sick with every pg from now on grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Just wanted to say you've got my sympathy, I was the same till 14 weeks and I know it is horrible, DH wasn't couldn't understand how rotten I felt and with DS (9 months) carrying on was tough. I hope it eases off for you soon.

trinityrhino · 14/06/2006 12:33

Its horrible isn't it? Really grinds you down.

I suffered with constant nausea with both my two (and frequent vomiting with DS). I had accupuncture which helped -it doesn't completely make it go away but it eased it and helped with energy levels too.

Like others have suggested I also ate small amounts frequently, ate quite bland carbohydrate rich food (baked potatoes and pasta mainly) and found grapefruit oil inhaled off a tissue helped.

How many more are you planning on having? Shock Grin

I was exactly the same with both pregnancies from week 7-13.

Went to a homeopath this time and the pills helped a lot. They have two standard types of cure which help most people but if they don't help they will tailor make something for you. Should only require one consultation. Don't ask me how it works cos I don't know but it helped me and it's risk free during pregnancy.

shhhh · 14/06/2006 16:37

I symthasise with you. I am just 7 weeks and feel awful all day..I also have no energy to do anything around the home which stresses me out..!

I was the same with dd so expected it but must admit I forgot how it felt....

Suppose we are lucky to be in this position, thats how I try and see it anyway. xx

You have my sympathy - I couldn't bear mints and ginger didn't help much. Sea sick bands useless etc etc.

I found Nux Vomica (homeopathic, available from chemist, they will recommend which dosage to take but I took 6x - also checked with my GP who had no probs) took the edge off some of the sickness enough to stop me from going over the edge from about where you are until about week 11.

I also found ice cold water was soothing and, if you can, not doing any cooking or thinking about what to eat - just got DH to put food in front of me (except for the things I was feeling anti) and it helped to eat.

I hope it goes really soon for you.....

notanotter · 14/06/2006 18:21

i was terribly sick in my last pg up until week34 when i was diagnosed with anaemia - put on iron and the nausea went - coincidence ???maybe! HTH

MagicGenie · 14/06/2006 18:44

trinity, I feel your pain.

Had dreadful sickness with DS and only one thing worked for me...

...not eating, sipping cold water (which came back up) and sucking mints to keep my gob fresh (despite the fact thet came back up too).

Just gotta ride it til it's over. Horrible, I know.

Sending hugs!

\link{http://www.hyperemesis.org.uk/\ have a look on this site}

the site has lots of information on helping morning sickness, and also what constitues normal- there is a condition called Byperemesis which is a bit like severe morning sickness, only more so.

Keep hydrated is the key- I ended up on a drip Sad- but water can be hard, ice can help, or foods with water in, eg lettuce and melon.

Eat what you fancy, the baby will get what it needs before you.

See a GP if it gets too much, or if your breath develops an almond smell (dehydration)

get rest, tiredness and nausea in PG are linked

CAt me if you need a chat, used to work for the link above in a voluntary support role, ahppy to help.

take care
