On Monday I had a really bad scare. 8.5 weeks pregnant- terrible one sided low down abdo pain. Went to hosp, the ward were fantastic and sorted me out really quickly with morphine, fluids etc. However, had to have a scan, which turned into one of those internal ones. Baby is fine and in the right place. Person doing scan was really off, no caring spirit about her and was obviosuly in a bad mood.( as in I was in great pain and no-one helped me move onto couch and then they left me with door unlocked-me completely exposed and high on morphine.) Now I have dull pain where the internal scan was done- she was pretty rough and I suppose i feel bruised- anyone got any thoughts or similar experience? Am Ok although they have no idea what caused such dreadful pain.

It sounds like a very frightening experience all round and I can imagine she really didn't help. Sad

I have no experience as all my scans have ben done gently and with care, however, I would have thought that it would be reasonabe to put in a complaint aobut her behaviour - not because anything can be done for you, but because she should be told that she cannot take her bad mood out on patients.

I had similar, a bit earlier than you and ended up having 3 internal scans. To be honest, I complained about the first woman, she was also off and uncaring and even exclaimed (loudly) that she didn't think I was still pregnant and callously pointed out my "huge" ovarian cysts (in the end, the cause of the pain).

During the scan, I became much less comfortable and tensed up and also felt a bit battered afterwards - I wonder if this is why you felt worse. As I had to have 2 more, I was glad I complained and I had a lovely woman for the next 2 - I wonder who these "health professionals" think they are when they treat a patient (let alone an in-pain, frightened and pregnant one) like that.

Glad you're OK now.
