Is this normal at 31 weeks?

I think the baby has moved down as yesterday it felt like she was going to fall out when I walked around. Today I feel quite uncomfortable and am feeling her movements much lower down. The movements themselves are not as strong as usual. Usually my whole belly jumps around, but yesterday and today it's been much smaller movements. Is this normal? Is the change in strength of movements due to her moving down?

Thanks for any advice.

Is anyone about? I'm just getting a little bit worried as her movements have been so strong up until now. I though yesterday was just a quiet day but now I'm not so sure?

I can't reach my midwife on the weekend so i would have to ring maternity triage. Do you think I should? The downward pressure I felt yesterday isn't so bad now, but she definitely feels lower down? Thanks so much for replying.

hi, also 31 weeks here Smile

I had similar downward feeling yesterday, with little movement, but then had a bath amd come bedtime baby was going nuts in there!

Perhaps have a bath, and something to eat and drink and then have a lie down for a while and see what happens

You're worried enough to ask here so definitely call. You won't be wasting anyone's time and it's worth doing, even though chances are everything is totally fine.

BigW · 11/08/2013 10:34

My standard response to this type of thing is to get it checked out.

DS never engaged properly so I don't know about the movements but I am sure everything is absolutely fine.

As much as I am sure there's no problem, it's too important not to err on the side of caution. Call maternity and see what they say. Hope all goes well Flowers

Hi, i had my second lo 8 weeks ago, i know i had that falling out feeling a few weeks before ds was born, made me walk like a duck Grin maybe lo has turned an moved down a touch, so the movements would feel different. Im with everyone else, if ur worried enough to ask then ring the ward. An dont feel silly about it ( i know i did when i rang ) its what they're there for

HeffalumpTheFlump · 11/08/2013 10:45

Right, I'm just going to have a shower then I'll give them a ring. I'll post to say what they have said. Thanks so much for the advice.

Rang them and they asked me to come get checked out, have just arrived at the hospital to get monitored. Thanks again, I just didn't want to be wasting their time.

I am watching the outcome with lots of interest as this is exactly what I have been experiencing the past two days and i am also 31w so please do update again.

Kelly1814 · 11/08/2013 13:35

I'm 31+5 and have had a number of scares already with baby's head being engaged. I would deff get checked out. I was put straight onto bed rest which seemed to move them back up, but am ordered to be on high alert for any pressure or heaviness.

You are doing the right thing getting checked, good luck and let us know how you get in.

Newmum0113 · 11/08/2013 14:35

Hi I've only just seen this thread, but was talking about similar experience on mumsnet yesterday or Friday - you are not alone!

Really hoping everything is just fine for you, and glad you're at the hospital to get checked. Please update us when you're free!

All ok! They had a feel and put me on the monitors. They aren't concerned about the pressure, and have said that baby is most likely kicking the placenta and back of my uterus which is why I cant feel her as much. When the midwife has a feel she said it feels like she has wriggled round to the back if that makes sense? They monitored for an hour or so and her heartbeat was fine and it was registering plenty of movement, I just couldn't feel it all.

They were absolutely brilliant and said I did the right thing getting it checked because they want to hear about any significant change in movements. If any of you other ladies are worried at all, definitely get it checked, it has really put my mind at ease.
