It may make the baby a funny colour

yes, but you shouldn't get amonia/peroxide on your scalp as it can be absorbed. You can either have a semi-permanent or high/lowlights though. or presumably some nre fangled dye that doesn't have peroxide or amonia in it.

It does make the baby a funny colour though.

totally fine, I've had my hair bleached 'whore blonde' (just the way I like it Grin) during each of my pg's and the doctors and lidwives said that it's fine

trinityrhino · 13/06/2006 17:06

that would be midwives rather than the wives of lids Grin

highlights are fine as the dye does not touch the skin and so will not be absorbed at all

there is no evidence that colouring hair can cause any damage to your baby although you may want to wait until after the first trimester just to be doubly sure.

It can make your hair unpredictable though. I had to have a second colour put on top of my first one as the colour never 'took' properly. Its the first time I've had problems with getting my hair coloured

I think it's fine, although when pregnant with dd I didn't colour at all mainly due to mc history and my own choice. Like others have said as long as it's colour applied to the hair and not the scalp it should be ok.
I'm due for a permenant wave to my hair this weekend for the 1st time and 7 weeks pregnant..but the same was said to me...

Have a nice pamper.

highlights will be fine as usually applied with foils or the cap.
