31 weeks and can't sleep! Any other night owls out there?!

I'm 31 weeks today and for the last week, I haven't been able to get to sleep before 3am. I don't know if it's adrenalin but I take myself to bed and just lie there, wide awake. To the point where I have to get up and busy myself with something.

There doesn't seem to be a pattern with naps either - some days I'll nap in the afternoon, other days I'll have no naps at all, but come bedtime and the same situation arises.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any tips on how to knock myself out?

I'm exactly the same! 28 weeks and insomnia has kicked in!! I'm currently on a break from stripping wallpaper for the nursery!
After an overnight stay in hospital last week, I am overly conscious on how unprepared we are for the little un! So am all panic stations!

Hi laura, I appreciate the company! I ended up doing my taxes the other night. I hadn't been that productive in 7 months.

I'm so tired though! Doubt I'd be able to cope without my cat naps! Mind is on over drive! Finding little things that need doing that suddenly seem important. For example, last night I decided to clean all the PVC around the windows! I usually have to force myself to do them! Was doing them at 4am, gave the milkman a fright in my Tigger all in one!!!!! X

Brilliant! DH is oblivious to all this - he's been snoring away since 10.30pm!

Same here!! I have the steamer going and making loads of noise and he's passed out to the world. I'll remember this when baby here! I have midwife appointment in 7hrs! Going to look like a zombie going in!

Could you try some pregnancy relaxation mp3s? I've been listening to a natal hypnotherapy cd and it sends me to sleep nearly every time. I usually take ages to get to sleep and have suffered with insomnia before.

Come and join the October antenatal thread - it's a common theme!

Me too! 31+3.

Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to get up and go to work!

And if anyone else says 'this is good practice for when the baby comes' I may punch them!

SeriousStuff · 09/08/2013 10:55

pseudo I need to get back on the Oct bus! I missed a whole thread last month and psychologically I've found it hard to catch up! Will pay you all a visit later, promise!

Got to sleep at 4am in the end. I think maybe I should just, rather than fight it, use the time productively like you laura. And if that doesn't work, relaxation tapes it is!

Kelly if that's true, then maybe I should be keeping DH awake so he can get used to it too...

We've had lots of people join/rejoin recently so it'd be lovely to see you :)

I feel your pain, but I am the other way around, I go to bed and literally pass out almost as soon as my head hits the pillow, then three, four if I am lucky, bang, I am awake. I have tried relaxation techniques, baths, reading getting up, I haven't tried baking yet, but might do that soon.

The other day I was awake from 3.30am right to 12.00ish that night and still woke up.

I find that if I do everything in the week like chores, visiting people, gym shopping etc, I can use most of the weekend to wonder around in a semi conscious state doing stuff for me and that helps me recover from the week.

Also, I try to use my awake time at nights to enjoy not being at work, like mini half days off. It doesn't always work, but getting stressed about probably being tired just makes me cross and more awake.

kelly I am with you on the comment about preparing me for the baby! But am keeping way from the gbh charges at the moment, it won't give the kid a good rep at school :) hehe
