Ibuprofen gel in pregnancy?

Does anybody know if this is ok? Am 36 weeks. Know the advice is to stay off oral ibuprofen but have got really painful knuckles and paracetamol isn't doing much If not, does anyone have any other suggestions? Cold water works briefly but am hoping for something more long lasting...

Co-codamol is ok during pregnancy if you speak to your GP first. I wouldn't risk ibuprofen personally! Here

That link suggests it might delay labour, so for that reason alone think I'll give it a miss! Really don't want to drag this thing out!
