So I'm 7 weeks or so, and I know your nails can be either really lovely, or they lack vitamins and go crappy but does that mean they can peel, and split? Hmm

My skin was really dry around this stage- maybe it's a similar thing.

Hi I'm a beauty therapist and what your describing sounds like desalination which is basically dryness. your nails just want some tlc so I would recommend you buy a good quality cuticle oil and one of those 4 way buffers and buff them once a week but oil them twice a day. Make sure you use gloves to wash up and gardening. Should be back to normal in no time. :-)

Bloody autocorrect, I meant 'delamination' !

Ah thanks breastmilk! Have got a bottle of cuticle oil my old beauty therapist gave to me Smile shall give it ago. I work outdoors all day too which probably doesn't help!

Anything, it's weird as my facial skin isn't dry but really healthy at the moment Smile (hopefully it stays this way!!!)

My face wasn't either - just random patcheson the backs of my hands! Your body is no longer your own.

On the plus side, my hair's fab this time!

I have always had really strong nails, but in the first few weeks they were brittle and peeling. They now seem even stronger than before and look great.
My hair has also almost completely stopped producing oil. Used to wash it every other day, now it's every 4 or 5 days. Had to buy some oil to put onto the sticky up flyaways at the front. Day 3 at the moment and it still feels freshly washed.

Ahoy yes my hair isn't half as greasy as normal! And has a lush shine and conditionSmile my nails on the other hand are a bit naff. My index ones are weak they're bending up at the tips Hmm

I have lovely long nails got the first time in 2 years thanks to rubbing in coconut oil every night. Mine were so bad they were growing split !

My nails have gone wrong but differently: the ratio of white bit to non-white bit (technical terms) has changed and where I used to have lovely long-looking nails, even when they were short, I now have really stubby looking ones because the white bit starts much lower down than it used to, if that makes sense Sad. Has anyone else had this happen?! It's only happened in the 5-6 weeks or so - I'm 32 weeks now - and started with just one of them but is now four of them. Just wondering if I might get my old nails back post-childbirth?!!
