Oh so wrong?

I'm sat eating Nutella, straight from the jar using a big spoon. I get such horrific dairy cravings.

Oh so wrong or oh so right? and just how wrong?

Very right. Try it with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff.

JodiLeighLeigh · 07/08/2013 14:24

Although I have all those things in the house, I've been told I shouldn't be eating peanuts Confused

Fair enough. Although my midwife hasn't slapped me on the wrist yet! Best to do what you've been told. I'll have a spoon for you.

Featherbag · 07/08/2013 14:38

Why can't you eat peanuts?

x0gawjus0x · 07/08/2013 14:42

All ive been eating is fruit+nut !!

JodiLeighLeigh · 07/08/2013 15:03

I have allergies of my own (not to peanuts) and athsma (mild) so was told that a baby of mine would be more likely than others to get a peanut allergy if I ate them while pregnant. Says something similar in my book too.

All a bit too scientific for me, but I figure I can't go far wrong if I do what I'm told Grin

I was told that re peanuts for the same reason 14 years ago, but this time I'm assured by my midwife that it's fine to eat peanuts if I want to.

rallytog1 · 07/08/2013 15:06

The jury's out on peanuts. There's some research that indicates they it might actually be good for mummies having babies at risk of allergies etc to eat them!

Mmmmmmm to the Nutella though. I ate a massive jar a week while pregnant. Can't stand the stuff now.

Seff · 07/08/2013 15:08

The last NHS advice I read was that it was ok to eat peanuts unless you are allergic to them... so don't eat them if you're allergic! ;)

JodiLeighLeigh · 07/08/2013 15:10

rallytog1 - I just went through half a large jar in one sitting. Had to call OH to get him to tell me to stop! Grin

I do that even when I'm not pregnant! I've had to ban myself from buying nutella. As far as I know it's fine to eat nuts unless you have an allergy yourself or you have been told that you have a specific risk.

Enjoy your nutella!

JodiLeighLeigh · 07/08/2013 15:13

Seff - oddly enough, I think someone with a peanut allergy may have already planned to avoid them Wink lol

I have to say, a pet hate if mine is various experts giving out conflicting advice...make up your minds!

OP posts:
JodiLeighLeigh · 07/08/2013 15:23

JoniR - I very much did! A Nutella toastie was my weekly treat, so there are 2 large jars here most of the time but I do have to get the OH to hide it or put it out of reach most of the time.

This time, his hiding place failed. Muah ha ha ha! Wink

He shall have to be more cunning now his competition is a pregnant woman.

Put the jar in the microwave for 5 seconds or so, make sure all the foil is removed, but makes it soft enough to drink from the jar if you were so inclined - not that I ever have obviously Grin

JodiLeighLeigh · 07/08/2013 15:35

Methinks RockChick should be nominated for a nobel prize Grin

Grin
MikeTheShite · 07/08/2013 15:39

I'm not pregnant and I do that!!! So right, so self indulgent

HeffalumpTheFlump · 07/08/2013 16:10

Rock chick is very wise. My dh did this before but did not remove all the foil. He realised there was a slight fire issue, and ran into the bedroom to tell me... Without turning the microwave off... Not his smartest move.

That aside, nutella is the best thing since and on sliced bread.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 07/08/2013 16:32

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm nutella!

miketheshite- I just spat out my diet coke at your user name! Very funny! Grin

LadyBigtoes · 07/08/2013 16:38

YUM. Sometimes I just need chocolate and if there isn't any in the house it has to be a spoonful of nutella. The trouble is stopping at one!

I'm not actually pregnant however - as you are, I deem it Oh So Right!

(When I was pg, it was Mr Kipling's mini bakewells for me. I dread to think how many I ate Blush)

katrinaxx · 07/08/2013 16:57

nuttella is hazelnuts so ur eating nuts anyway and as long as ur not allergic its perfectly fine x

JodiLeighLeigh · 07/08/2013 17:02

Ah, but all nuts were not born equal Wink

OP posts:
katrinaxx · 07/08/2013 17:06

ino but most people that are allergic to nuts are allergic to all nuts

JodiLeighLeigh · 07/08/2013 17:16

Really? ? I'd thought there were loads of people with peanut-specific allergies Confused

AnythingNotEverything · 07/08/2013 17:18

I love that you explain it as a "dairy craving". Ha - same reason I'm eating so much cheese ... Milk just doesn't cut it!
