it can be anythinh from hours to weeks i am afraid. i lost mine and still went two weeks overdue...

StormBird · 07/08/2013 13:55

I lost mine and my waters ruptured and I experienced my first contraction all at the same time - still took 24hrs til delivery.

Good Luck, fingers crossed you won't have to wait too long!

bumpybumps · 07/08/2013 13:59

Mine started coming away 24 hours before I went into labour. Hopefully you don't have to wait much longer!

Jo1984uk · 07/08/2013 14:01

Had a show on Monday, waters broke 10pm Tuesday, contractions started 11pm Wednesday and my gorgeous currently 17 wk dd was born midday on Thursday Smile she arrived on her due date.

Good luck!

posybunchof · 07/08/2013 14:49

My v reliable pg book says that usually labour starts within a couple of days of plug going. Ie it can be weeks but is more likely to be days. Exciting!

I am 40 weeks on Sunday and no sign here so v jealous!

rowtunda · 07/08/2013 15:03

24hrs after my contractions started, 7hrs later DS born

QuietNinjaTardis · 07/08/2013 15:46

I lost mine on the thurs morning and went into labour on the Friday evening.

DramaAlpaca · 07/08/2013 15:49

It was almost 20 years ago, but I went into labour with my first two hours after the plug went & had the baby later that evening.

So hopefully you will be as quick Smile

Congrats to everyone on here who's just had a baby or is about to!

RegainingUnconsciousness · 07/08/2013 15:50

I got up at 40+2 to go to the loo, noticed my plug had gone. Went into the kitchen to make a cup of te and contractions started.

(They went directly to 1 every 5 mins and DS was born 13 hours later!)

LaRosaBella · 07/08/2013 15:51

I started losing mine at 36 weeks, didn't go into labour until 39 weeks.

Onlyconnect · 07/08/2013 15:52

I could have asked this very question! Mine went on Sat evening, I got all excited but nothing else so far. Am just 39 weeks but have had three stretch and sweeps. I think it can range hugely. Good luck!

fedupofpoo · 07/08/2013 15:58

Fakebook · 07/08/2013 16:02

RegainingUnconsciousness · 07/08/2013 18:05

I never had a 'bloody' show. It was like green snot!

WrongendoftheSTIX · 07/08/2013 19:55

Lost mine during labour. Nothing beforehand.

Yonionekanobe · 07/08/2013 19:57

Over 2 weeks I'm afraid.

SarahNoDuck · 07/08/2013 19:58

Less than 36 hours from show to birth. Good luck!

clabsyqueen · 07/08/2013 20:28

I lost mine at 2pm today at 40+2 - have googled all afternoon. The responses above say it all really - could be any length of time but most likely within a few days. I have fingers crossed for both of us!

Claire5517 · 07/08/2013 20:36

The quicker the better! Off for a walk to see if that does anything!

jennimoo · 08/08/2013 07:17

Part of mine came away 3 or 4 days before, but the rest the night before: woke up to early labour and had DD just before midnight.

Good luck! I'm currently waiting for DC2 so keep checking knickers!

diddl · 08/08/2013 07:49

ÍIirc, I was already in hospital because waters had broken.

Went to toilet, spotted plug, called midwife & I was already 8cms.

Had baby a couple of hrs later.

Jenjen85 · 08/08/2013 09:30

I lost a very tiny amount on the Friday and my waters broke In the early hours of the Saturday morning (2.30am) bang on my due date, had my DD at 7.45pm that night

beckie90 · 08/08/2013 09:38

My normal mucus plug was coming away for weeks and weeks but the bloody one started coming sway in bits from 36wks, I went into labour at 37+6 which by that point it had turned very bloody rather then just streaked. Good luck x
