Do frequent, strong braxton hicks = baby coming soon?

I'm 36 weeks pregnant and for the last week I've been getting very strong and painful braxton hicks. They come throughout the day every day and from 5pm til I fall asleep they are every 10 minutes, very tight and extremely uncomfortable!!
I got checked.. baby is not engaged and everything is closed downstairs - but I just wondered does it mean things could happen quickly from now or could it just be like this til 40+ weeks?
What are your experiences? Thank you!

Hello,
Sorry nothing constructive to offer but I'm wondering the very same thing. I've been getting them really strong tonight and with a bit of pain and back ache. Been feeling a bit nervous about it all xx

I wish! I've been getting them since about 30 weeks... currently 39+3 and they are still going strong, but no other signs yet... Good luck NTMummy

I had that with my first after 2 runs of chemically stopped Pre term labour at 30 and 32 weeks... And was a stretchy 2-3cm.

From 34 weeks til 3 days overdue I had breath-taking BH type contractions all day, every day... Don't get your hopes up. But it could be.

Good luck! Hope you have a smooth labour.

I had BHs from 20 weeks. They'd start about midday, and come every 5 minutes till 8ish or later. Worse if I was dehydrated or doing too much. They eases if I rested a bit.

I had DS at 40+3.

Take it easy, keep hydrated, and get checked out if you get concerned. x

I had strong, regular BHs that were almost like false labour at times from 37 weeks and she didn't arrive until 41+3! In my case they said they were caused by the baby trying to turn because she was B2B.
