Which baby monitor have you bought?

Hello, looking at baby monitors and I just don't know where to start there are far to many! So just wondered which one do you recommend and why? :)

I wouldn't recommend anything with a motion sensor or camera. Everyone I know who has had one has become obsessive compulsive over what baby is doing or if it is still breathing. OK I understand being a bit nuerotic after when it's your first but I went to a friends house one evening and evertime baby moved an alarm sounded - it was ridiculous.

I bought a Philips Avent one which inlcuded around 50 Lullabies & Jungle Noises etc. a temp sensor around 2 years ago now. It is brilliant and I'm planning on usng it again this time round.

It's down to personal preference I suppose and your budget but IMO the very expensive motion sensing, breathing sensing, alarm sounding all singin all dancing ones are a bit of a waste of money.

Have you had your baby yet?

I am due soon and the advice i've had is to wait and see what kind of baby I have.. some are quiet, some noisy sleepers, some move all the time even when deeply asleep and some are very still... in the first week or two you won't want to leave them unattended anyway and they ought to sleep in the same room as you for six months so there's plenty time to make a decision once you've met the wee one.

No I've not had the baby yet, I think your right tho makes sense to wait as I won't even need one for the first months as the baby will be in our room! I didn't even think of that and put it on my list of things to get! Thank you :)

I've got iBaby, you buy the camera and download the app for it. I love it, it has motion and sound alerts but you can adjust sensitivity. Which is great as DS is noisy and moves a lot in his sleep and with any other monitor alarm would be going off all the time. With iBaby, and adjusted settings, it only goes off when he starts crying or really moves about the whole cot. It only took me a couple of evenings to work out the right settings.

I managed very well without one.

Save your money for now and buy something lovely later.

I've not long bought a set of Motorola ones, about £40 but they're great. Useful for when madam is in her cot/ds is not well etc.

If they still make the BT one it's great

Angel Care monitor for both my DS.

Brilliant! Alarm goes off if they stop breathing, gave me unlimited peace of mind.

I have the Angelcare with sensor pad and i absolutely love it and would highly recommend it.

We never had one and it's been fine with both babies. My sister had one clamped to her ear for the first 18 months and it didn't help her relax at all. I always hear my kids when they wake in the night so I'm glad I haven't bought one.

Has the alarm ever gone off? :)

Angel care - TBH it is more for me than baby - my DH will be working away during the week and I figure with the angel care I will worry less on my own and manage to get some sleep. Read lots of good reviews re. the Angel Care one too. Also checked with friends and verdict was Angel Care. Can get good deals on Amazon for it.

I have a Motorola one, its reliable and has good range and battery life. Just room temp, no other whistles a bells.

When DD cries, we really don't need it.

Angelcare with sensor mat. Been great. Alarm has gone off and found tot had climbed OUT of cot!!!

I've got the Angelcare sound & motion monitor, got it very cheaply on amazon, decided on it after reading a million product guides & reviews, & also finding out that my SIL is using it & loves it. Still not sure if we're going to use the motion bit as there are pro's and cons but we'll see how things go when she comes!
