Ridiculous, funny, awful jobs/work situations - anybody else got 'em?

I'm a stonemason. Is there any more ridiculous job for a pg woman?

Even better than that, I used to have a secure job, permanent contract, mat pay, the whole caboodle, but decided to give it up last week, because of horrible harassment problems - then got a BFP. Wooop! Grin

I'm now a pg, self-employed stonemason. Still, wouldn't change any of it Smile

Anyone else?

Self employed, in construction - although to be honest its not a very physical job, although lots of driving - so not really that bad.

Still it would be nice to have more mat leave available, so I could finish a week or so before I'm due, so I'd plan to finish early if you can possibly afford it.

Ah, nice to hear from you purplemurple. I think I will try that - I'm very early yet, only 5w (fingers crossed) - my job is pretty physical, so hoping to stop at about 6 months and survive on husband's wage before MA kicks in.

The thing is that it's my first, so have no idea what my symptoms will be!

Need to find some good excuses for vomming into bushes on site. Smile

My friend is a female engineer on. sewage treatment works Smile. She took an office role after she found out she was pg.

boldlittlebird · 06/08/2013 09:57

ha ha, that's definitely not ideal! Great that they could find her an office role.

This is cheering me right up, I'm not the only one Grin

Not work, but I volunteered as a zoo keeper. Clambering over fences and trying to look after 3 dozen rather boisterous primates wasn't really a great idea, worst was when the sickness kicked in as I was cleaning out the bats!

boldlittlebird · 06/08/2013 13:02

mogz, that just made me laugh out loud.

Glad it was funny for someone, it wasn't for the poor lass who was on duty with me. I think she's scared for life! Not that I'm the tiniest bit proud of that. Grin
I'm really hoping that my time spent picking up various types of animal poo has set me in good stead for nappy changes, after seeing the contents of a lemur's bowels nothing should phase me, right?

boldlittlebird · 07/08/2013 07:19

Ha ha yes, it's probably funnier at a distance, when it's not you vomming in a bat cage Smile Or working with someone who is Smile

It's got to be good training, right? Personally I think sharing a repellent sink and work fridge with my all-bloke team is going to be good prep for the teenage years Grin

Eew, yuck, yes that sounds like you're perfectly qualified to deal with teenagers. What is it about men at work and not keeping communal areas clean?
