So, I have my 20 week scan in 12 hours.

I've had quite bad Hyperemesis so I haven't really given it a thought, but not I can't sleep I'm so anxious and it is making the sickness worse.

Sorry, a bit of a woe is me post but at this time of night I have no one else to talk to Sad

Good luck with your scan Thanks, I have a consultant appointment, to schedule additional scanning, in 10 hours and I can't sleep either!

If it helps at all, I was really worried before 20 weeks scan, I had basically barely eaten due to serious lack of appetite and lost weight to start with and forgotten to take vitamins all the time, started to panic what if baby hasn't grown enough/properly etc. but it was a lot of worry all for nothing, somehow even without me eating very much (i mean some days eating nothing!) our little guy had actually grown loads and looked so remarkable, like a real little person Smile. Although it did drain the energy right out of me so I'm trying to eat more these days even when I'm not hungry and have to force myself lol.

Good luck with your appointments today - your scan will be fine, and I remember being so nervous before mine. I hope it goes really well and you squeeze in a nap later x

You poor thing, you sound exactly like me!
Is there something in particular that you are worried about?
Although it is a scan to check for anomalies, and very important / serious that is, the chances of them finding anything wrong is very small.
Chances are, your baby is absolutely perfect in every way.
I was practically hysterical before my 20-week scan as I had been told I was high risk for foetal abnormalities, and I had hyperemesis too so was frightened the baby would have been affected by my weight loss. Although the odds on my baby having something wrong were higher than most people, they were actually still very small in real terms, despite being referred to as "High risk". And everything was fine, and they were growing normally. As they put it "the baby is a parasite"! Mmmm, not sure I like thinking of the lovely thing in my tummy as a parasite!
Good luck for your scan, and please don't worry and make yourself ill. You are getting a chance to see your baby again, and that is exciting.

Good Luck for your scan today Smile

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow and am feeling exactly the same...

Let us know how you get on

BumpAndGrind · 05/08/2013 18:29

Well, I had the scan.

Everything was ok except the femur was measuring short, 5th centile or something.

Got to go bad for a rescan next week. :(

Glad to hear that mostly everything was ok, did you find out pink or blue?

Mine is in an hour.... sooo nervous!

I'm sure the femur thing will be fine, try not to worry. :)

Its a little girl.

There is also a cyst on a ventricle, so it's 2 soft markers for downs.

This wasn't even mentioned to me, but I saw it in my notes.

Do you know what your combined test results were?

It may be nothing to worry about, I know it's hard to not worry, I am a nervous wreck, but sometimes they get things wrong, or baby grows/changes in a week and all is then fine.

Congrats on the girl though :)

I've just come back from mine, and am having a boy! Although was nearly told girl, as the first time they checked they couldn't see anything, but i had to walk around to get the baby to move and when they checked again it was clearly a boy!
My only worry now is I have a low lying anterior placenta so have to go back at 32 weeks to see if it's moved or I have to have a C section...

BumpAndGrind · 06/08/2013 14:37

I declined the DS blood tests.

I will decline any invasive testing also.

DP has little legs and is of average height so I wasn't worried until I saw the notes about the cyst.

Congratulation on the boy btw! Flowers

Thanks :)

If DP has little legs then you probably are right and have nothing to worry about - guess only time will tell.

Good Luck
