I am buying a double buggy attachment for my Vista pram, new bottles and a mechanical swing because I doubt I will have as much time to cuddle him as I did my first! Also a few new sleep suits and body suits...

BungleGeorgeAndZippy · 04/08/2013 19:45
  • Double buggy
  • baby carrier
  • some new vests and sleepsuits
  • new bottles
  • teddy and some toys just for dc2 (not just dc1's handmedowns)
  • new mattress for Moses

The rest wil be dc1s stuff. Most of the clothes are designer (gifts) or ood quality high street and all the pre 1 yea old clothes are almost new (some have never even been worn).

Thank god we don't have to re buy everything!

Catsize · 04/08/2013 19:54

Think I will buy the 'first babygro' but nothing else. Thank goodness!

cravingcake · 04/08/2013 19:54

We will be getting a new toddler bed for DS1 so DC2 can have his cot so i'm having some fun looking at what styles there are and trying to stop myself getting a racing car one

I too will be getting double buggy seat for my Vista buggy and once we know if we're expecting a boy or girl i will get a few new clothes & a special teddy or toy.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 04/08/2013 19:56

I think we bought a new cot mattress and some nappies for ds2!

cravingcake · 04/08/2013 19:57

And a new change mat as our current one is all cracked & ready for the bin.

VinegarDrinker · 04/08/2013 19:57

One new babygro
Cot (DS still in his as a cotbed)
Buggy board (bought after DD was born - was planning to sling her full time but then the heatwave happened!)

Think that's it!

Goodkingwalkingslass · 04/08/2013 19:58

Sorry to hijack thread op but for those pp who are getting second seats for vistas, what will you do with newborn? Get a newborn insert for the main seat? I love my vista but can't see how I'll make it work as for ds we used the carry cot loads so don't want dc2 to have to be in car seat on the wheels all the time!

RugBugs · 04/08/2013 19:58

Baby bjorn babysitter (worth it just for the removable cover)
Slings
A new baby carrier that fits onto our buggy
Bednest (DD is 2.8 and still joins us most nights so wanted a proper co-sleeper)
A washable play mat (another lesson learned, bye bye lottie)
A few bits of clothing in 'up to 7lb8'

pommedechocolat · 04/08/2013 19:58

I bought a lovely special woollen blanket for her.

Mil recently ruined it whilst doing my washing unasked Angry but that's another story!

cravingcake · 04/08/2013 20:04

goodkingwalking i'm still undecided exacty how it will work as i too dont want baby to be in car seat all the time. I'm weighing up getting a board for the back so DS1 can stand (i think it will work but dont know, am going to go to a shop & have a good look closer to the time) or he can walk next to me, with wrist strap or backpack with lead firmly on.

vaticancameo · 04/08/2013 20:16

Get a sling. I had dc2 in April and the sling is the most essential bit of kit I have by miles. Dd doesn't like the pram anyway, but even if she did I'd still use the sling more as it means I'm hands free and can play with dc1. It's been a lifesaver when I take them to the park by myself, as I can supervise him on the play equipment without fretting that someone's going to steal my baby out of the pram. I have a moby wrap and a hana baby wrap (lighter for summer). Both brilliant and I would recommend very highly.

CheeseFondueRocks · 04/08/2013 20:29

Possibly a double buggy
Moses basket (never had one with DD)
Own baby towel
Muslins
Some new vests
Some new babygros
Own baby hair brush

And pray that DC2 is a DD2.

CheeseFondueRocks · 04/08/2013 20:30

Oh, and a buggy board

CheeseFondueRocks · 04/08/2013 20:30

And an own baby blanket

clare8allthepies · 04/08/2013 20:37

Nearly everything!
DD will be 3 and a half by the time number 2 comes along and as we're in a flat we've had no room to store stuff so have given it all away.
However we really did everything on a shoestring budget the first time so I'm being selective but buying things I really like (but still keeping an eye out for a bargain!) Smile

beginnings · 04/08/2013 20:44

Double buggy (dd will only be 16mos and is not yet walking)
New cot (dd still in hers)
New chest of drawers
New mattress for bugaboo (dd used it as her bed for a couple of months). Will be used as DD still in childcare three days a week
New Moses as DD's kind of fell apart
New babygro so bubba comes home in their own.

Also kind of hoping for a girl as while DD is hardly ever in pink, her clothes are definitely girls clothes!

SamsungInTune · 04/08/2013 20:53

We bought a double buggy, another cot&mattress because our first was still in a cot (small age gap), a better bouncer chair because our first one was rubbish and a second baby monitor so could have one in each DC rooms.

We still had the crib for our bedroom for the first few months from teh first time around so didn't need a moses basket or anything.

We bought a new infant car seat too, I don't like the idea of re-using them so bought new each time.

MortifiedAdams · 04/08/2013 21:11

THabks for the ideas Grin

We have a Maclaren XLR which lies totally flat so new baby can go in that from.three months. Therefore I have planned to get a good newborn sling (Caboo maybe?), and a Buggy board. DD will be 2.3 and at 20mo is a great little walker already. Their own baby blanket is a good idea as the two I had for dd feel like 'hers' and maybe she would like them.in a memory box.

I gave most of the newborn stuff to a friend who may or may not have kept some bits so how much clotheswise i need Im.not sure.

Unsure as to what to do bed wise Im.not sure. DD is in a cotbed and baby will be in the Moses Basket for 4/5 months so I might just get dd a full bed for when she gets booted out of thw cotbed.

We're getting a new pram, still have our son's but its a bit worn now.
New matress for the cot.
We've bought a few little bits of clothing but still don't know the sex so will need clothing if its a girl once she's grown out of all the unisex stuff we have from our son.
Have got a new changing mat as they got chucked away.
We need a new baby monitor as the last one got broken.
We also want to hire a bednest as I think they look fantastic and will just use the Moses downstairs.
Although we do have most things and will be using them all from our son, we'll still be going out after bump is born while hubby on paternity to buy some stuff, toys etc that are just for DC2.
Our son will be a couple of months away from 4 so we have a bigger gap compared to some.

TarkaTheOtter · 04/08/2013 21:26

Toddler bed for dc1
Double buggy (from ebay)

Not sure if I should get new mattresses for te cot bed and Moses basket. We bought quite expensive ones and they will be less than 2yrs old and dd has never puked/pooed on them. What do people think?

cravingcake · 04/08/2013 21:45

tarka if you get a toddler bed then most are the same size as a big cot or cot bed. Therefore can move DC1 current mattress to toddler bed & buy new mattress for baby. We are limited on space & a standard single wont fit how we want it so are going down toddler bed route (second hand) until both DC are big enough to share our other large bedroom when we can look at it again then. Hoping to spend no more than £20 on toddler bed & around £100 on mattress for baby.

TarkaTheOtter · 04/08/2013 21:52

craving, hadn't thought about that. Tempted to get a proper single so it lasts though. Just not sure on the reasons behind the SIDS guidelines and just how risky (if at all) it would be.

posybunchof · 04/08/2013 21:57

I've bought:
A moby wrap (highly recommended by friends with DC2s)
New moses basket mattress (cat adopted old one)
New expresser (read they can go mouldy)
New steriliser (old one is mouldy and I can't be bothered to clean it)

That's about it. No new clothes or blankets. I have a box of unisex newborn stuff which will do until we find out the sex. Will have lots of shopping to do if it's a boy!

posybunchof · 04/08/2013 22:01

ps also plan to get new bottles/teats when/if I need - but two came with new expresser/steriliser, which will do until I know whether bf worked out or not!
