I think I am about 5 weeks, cannot remember the date when I had my last period, does that matter very much or could I say in and around a certain time?

Anyway we found out last Sunday and since then I have been experiencing a lot of cramps, mainly on the left side and back pain. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, I woke up in severe pain, went to the toilet expecting to see bleeding however nothing, at which point I had to shout for my other half as the pain was so bad I was going to pass out. I was on all fours on the bathroom floor, sweating profusely and very clammy, all colour drained for me, panicking thinking this might be ectopic. However I also felt like I need to go to the toilet (not to get too graphic, but I'm sure you know what I am referring too!), once I had gone to the toilet the pain eased and I was able to stand again and recovered pretty quickly. I have noticed the pain does seem to be more prominent when I am bloated, have wind or need the toilet. Is this normal?

I have been pregnant twice before, miscarried once at 8 weeks and then my dear Isobel was stillborn at 7 months, however have not experienced the above before. I have done three pregnancy tests now and could probably do one every day until I give birth, but trying to not let paranoia and fear get to me! I am still having the symptoms and morning/all day sickness kicked in yesterday, so hoping these are good signs. Just worried about the pain, hoping it is just growing pains and related to my bowel movements!

Any advice would be greatly received! Thanks

I didn't want to read and run - I'm sorry to hear you've been having these pains. I had period-like pains and stretching/cramps at the same time you are at in my pregnancy and was convinced I was miscarrying. I got morning sickness at 5 weeks which reassured me that the hormones were kicking in too. I'd suggest going to the doctors as they will want to monitor and support you, but please don't think the worst. It sounds really sore, but I really hope this works out really well for you xx

Hi, what you have described, ie being doubled up, clammy etc, sounds like what I experienced with a few ovarian cysts I had last year (incl. the bit about it being better when I'd been to the loo), and as they are common in early pregnancy I thought I'd throw it in as a suggestion! I'd go to the doctor and let them know your symptoms, they might arrange an early ultrasound to rule something like that out. And they will want to rule out ectopic (which I'm sure it's not but def get checked out). xx
