Hi there. Obvious name change as embarrassed.

I am 28 weeks pg now and the whole family seems to have the runs and thread worms. No more barbies for us.

Anyway ovex says not for pregnant women. Would it really do any harm?

Any help would be deeply appreciated. Blush

could you ring NHS direct and see what they advise?

DS1 had threadworms and went to the GP for medication. I'm 16 weeks pregnant and he said that while the entire family had to take it I couldn't and that I had to rely on hygiene - lots of washing of the hands, etc. Apparently they die within 6 weeks. Unfortunately not much help if you do come down with it.

cut your nails really short. wash hands alot. have a bath or shower just be fore you go to bed and when you get up to wash away any eggs (vomit). wear pants in bed. if you can stop the cycle of swallowing the eggs you will crack it.

good luck. nothing to be ashamed off.

there is a homeopathic remedy that you can take..... It might be called cima, I'll have to check old threads.... (Grin sorry, no pun intended...!). Poor you, sounds utterly miserable, hope you manage to get rid of them soon...

I was pregnant when I had threadworms. I waited till after the birth before I took treatment - what a mistake that was! Only after I'd given birth was I told there WAS something pregnant mothers could take, only I couldn't take it after the birth if bfing. It was a nightmare, pumping and throwing away! Sorry, not sure what it is, but I would keep trying to get it treated before the birth.... as its not something Drs have to deal with very often, they don't always trouble to find out the answer!

You can take Pripsen (prescription from your doctor) during pregnancy but not in the first 12 weeks.
