Should I feel guilty about what I eat?

I'm only 6+1 and already I'm panicking as to what effects my dietary actions will have on BeeBee.

I have been eating better since findings out I'm pregnant but all I really, really, really want is a huge pile of chocolate spread sandwiches!!

Surely we are allowed to indulge sometimes???

Of course you are! Don't sweat the small stuff. Eat lots of fruit & veg though

CheeseFondueRocks · 04/08/2013 16:03

If it sometimes yes. If you only eat crap for 9 months, then yes, that's not good.

kd83 · 04/08/2013 16:05

In my first trimester I craved fondant fancies. Honestly I could eat a whole pack in one go. When else are you going to get away with a bit of indulgence.

Just don't go over the top and as the previous poster said make sure you get lost of fruit and veg in there too, and take your pregnancy multivitamin.

CheeseFondueRocks · 04/08/2013 16:21

That was meant to say, don't feel guilt for occasional indulgence, only for regular crap eating.

My 3 DC were made with sugar puffs and custard creams Wink
Didn't occur to me to feel guilty

A friend (yes, a real friend, not a story gleaned from dailyheil) could eat nothing but Chupa Chups and corn snacks (like doritos) throughout, and full fat coke. Water wouldn't stay down. Bread got sicked back up. Her two are now 7&3 and healthy as anyone else.

I lived off toast and cheese sandwiches for the first 14 weeks. Oh and salt and vineger crisps and boiled sweets. I had hideous morning sickness and most other things made my sickness worse.

I'm now 16 weeks, morning sickness has finally gone and I'm eating much healthier.

Writerwannabe83 · 04/08/2013 17:10

Thanks guys - I feel much better now Smile

My sandwiches were delicious!!!! Grin

I do have some broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and new potatoes for my evening meal so guess all the chocolate and hula hoops are being balanced out Grin

i couldn't stand the sight, smell or taste of any form of veg in the first 14 weeks.
trying to make up for it now.
if you're craving something sweet you can often make do with a small amount of dark choc, dates, honey etc.
but i wouldn't sweat it, especially in the first trimester when we're often not in control of the foods we crave.

FrankelInFoal · 04/08/2013 17:15

I'm the same! I'm currently 9+5 and have such a small appetite and constant nausea. Frazzles and tea are the only things that make me feel better and whilst I'm trying to eat stuff that is good for me and the bean, I'm certainly not getting my 5 a day! I'm aiming to make up for it when this sickness subsides!

Writerwannabe83 · 04/08/2013 17:30

Frazzles!!!!! Yummy!!!!!!!

Well I ate everything good and bad. I had insatiable hungry through the1st trimester of both of my pregnancy's. I'm not 17+3 with DC2 and eating less and a good balance of good and naughty things Wink
