just wondering.... did anyone else get this? do you think it is a sign of bladder not emptying or rather just baby moving down (was 3/5 engaged a couple of weeks ago - feel probably more engaged now). i don't remember this with other 2 pregnancies.

This sounds like a uti/cystitis. Off to the GP/midwife asap, I think.

d'ya think? i hadn't thought of that - its not really that sort of pain. more feeling of downward pressure than of the sort of stingy pain i usually associate with uti. also not every time i go to the loo. funnily enough vbab on the june thread is also getting this pain.

probably right, should get it checked out though.

I've been having this for a couple of weeks...also get it when walking any distance. To be blunt, feels like my bits are falling out! Makes me wince. Can be quite a sharp pain, other times very heavy pressure down there. Didn't have it with DD. Am almost 39 weeks and baby very engaged. My urine was negative for infections. Think it is baby head butting my cervix. Midwife also said baby is lying right on my bladder, hance the need to go every 5 mins. If you're worried though, perhaps get your wee dipped to check for white cells, which would indicate infection.

yes, kathrynwales - sounds more like this. like baby pushing onto my cervix/bladder. i said to dh last night that it almost feels like the baby could put his hand down my noony and out and wave hello! will ask for wee to be checked on weds if no better though.

If you're not having the other symptoms (particularly the need to wee all the time), then it probably isn't a UTI. If you've had them before, you'd know.

surroundedbyboys · 12/06/2006 17:51

Thanks NQC - funnily enough has happened less today. Pretty sure not a UTI but will mention in when go in for pre-op on weds.

any other signs KathrynWales?

haha SBB, love the image of baby waving out of your "noony"!!! Grin Grin

After writing on here about this, had a huge one yesterday...just went to loo , flushed chain then OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! Was doubled over... Lasted about 30-40 seconds then absolutely fine!?

The daft thing was, my two (alleged ) birth partners to be, mum and daughter, continued to sit happily munching ice creams in my sitting room, oblivious to my agony! very reassuring... !!

I am seeing MW this pm. Will mention in behalf of everyone who's having similar...
(Not sure if I'll call it a noony though Wink

surroundedbyboys · 13/06/2006 12:26

oooh, yes kathrynwales, do ask midwife and let me know, please. (originally from south africa - we all call it a noony there!).
i'd have whisked their ice creams off them....
when are you due?

OP posts:
KathrynWales · 13/06/2006 23:10

Well, am due a week tomorrow (wed 21st) but have been told today my waters are leaking, and now have to go in in the morning to be INDUCED!!! YIKES!!!! Shock

Looks like those pains we've been having may mean action is on the way!! Grin

MW said it sounded like cervix thinning, and when I was examined later today at hospital, they confirmed cervix had thinned out, though wasn't dilated.

Am now all flustered, have been rushing round adding finishing touches to hospital bag and swearing a lot under my breath. Suddenly is all real and scary and daunting and exciting and still completely unreal, as if happening to someone else!!!

Good luck SBB! You may be joining me soon by the sounds of things Wink

Anyone had this any earlier? I am 28 + 6 and feeling HUGE downward pressure when do a wee or squat down to play with DS.

I am assuming that I am just having another V BIG baby (he was 10lb5).
