We said we didn't want to know sex of baby (22 week scan), although I do secretly. Doctor started looking and immediately said 'Oh, I can see straightaway what YOU're having!',

Would you think this means a boy?

As surely for a girl you'd have to take a closer look?

DH and I also both thought we saw a willy but not sure...

I think its something to do with the pelvic bone structure that gives it away, it was explained to me at my scan, but cant remember all the details now Smile

What an awful thing for him to say especially after you said you didn't want to know. Like 'I know a secret but I'm not telling you' sort of thing. No idea on the girl/boy thing though, sorry.

Well with dd they said 'oh there's no doubt that this is an XX. She's opening her legs for everyone to see', so I suppose that doesn't definately mean a boy but the fact that you think you saw a willy makes it seem a bit more likely.

PrincessPeaHead · 12/06/2006 09:37

no i don't think so. we could see in about a second that dd was a girl from the scan - very distinctive! don't try and read anything into it if you don't want to know....

I got it wrong by interpreting the Ob/Gyn's similar remark ! Perhaps the pink sheets in the awaiting crib in the delivery room should have given it away !

When i had my scan, the doctor said i was having a girl at first then she said 'oh hold on a moment i dont think you are' made me go to the loo to make the baby move, came back and she re scanned me and turns out it was a boy instead!! hope she was right because the rellies have started to buy boy bits!!!

sandyballs · 12/06/2006 11:03

Sounds like a boy to me, and he's hung like a horse Grin

Nemo1977 · 12/06/2006 11:28

would also say boy..thats pretty much what happened with ds sonographer said I cen definetly tell what it is do you want to know and I said I didnt need to as I could see it was a boy and he replied..mmm well he does have a big third leg..pmsl

edam · 12/06/2006 11:28

Dh reckoned he could see a penis before we even asked the sonographer. But I have heard of people mistaking a penis for a clitoris and vice versa... guess they are both very tiny at that stage of development!

jampots · 12/06/2006 11:30

our sonographer took a scan piccie of ds having a wee clearly proving he indeed was a boy

tallmummy · 12/06/2006 11:32

At my scan for ds3 we said we didn't want to know the sex so sonographer said she'd tell us when she would be looking in that area so we could look away. She placed the scan thingy on my tummy and the first thing we saw was a little bum, two balls and a willy! It was exactly the view you get when you hold a baby boys legs up at nappy time! I commented that I had seen those before somewhere as I'd already got 2 dss and have since had another.Grin

Xena · 12/06/2006 11:37

That is what the sonographer said to me when I was pg with DD2!
