I got one for about £25 on Amazon.

For the first 6 months my DH and I would have a listen every Friday night before bed.

If you could get paranoid or are a worrier then I wouldn't recommend getting one as you could become obsessed with it, checking the baby is still alive. But if its just for fun then I'd say go for it.

Some people say there are some risks with constant baby monitoring or that the risks are unknown so it's better to not, google it so you're decision is informed if you do.

I would disagree with Bunnylion, if you are paranoid/a worrier, DO get one. I am and got an angel sounds for £19 on ebay, and used it once a week from 9 weeks onwards. After 14 weeks I could hear my baby kicking, which was amazing, because I couldnt feel a thing.
It totally put my mind at rest, and the whole family could listen as well.
I read online that they are quite noisy for the babies, so its best to limit your usage, just for potential risks.
I am totally paranoid, and the AS really helped me. Amazon or ebay are probably te best, but I know mothercare sell them too xxx
