Pregnancy and CM

Hi Guys,

Another question from a woman having her first pregnancy - hence why I'm so clueless Smile

I'm 6 weeks pregnant tomorrow and I thought that after conception, cervical mucus was supposed to dry up and disappear seeing as there is a plug sitting within the cervix to not let anything pass.

However, over the last few days I have had a small amount of CM but today there has been much more, it is clear, wet and slippery - sorry if this is TMI for some Smile

Is this something to worry about?????

Hi writer! I too am 6 weeks, cm is pretty much non existent apart from the day after having sex with dh. I didn't realise it was meant to dry up though! Thanks for the info Smile

Lots of CM can also be a symptom of pg, weirdly.

Writerwannabe83 · 02/08/2013 20:12

I was worried it was the plug slipping away which in turn might lead to the pregnancy slipping away...??

No, much much more likely to be just normal pg CM! Some of us have a fair bit of it - something to do with increased blood flow to the area? I know it is a bit disconcerting but honestly, very normal.

An increase in vaginal discharge is normal. The mucus plug in that forms in the opening of the cervix is a different thing.
Sounds plum normal to me.

I've had a massive increase in egg white cm/clear/White cm in each pregnancy, and yes, for me it's been a sure fire symptom! Perfectly normal. Congrats!

I had a massive increase I'm CM during my whole pregnancy

Lj8893 · 03/08/2013 01:34

Completely normal.

I have never had to wear party liners untill I fell pregnant and now it is a disaster if I don't wear one!!!

MrsBungle · 03/08/2013 01:36

I had a massive increase in discharge (nice) with both pregnancies. I had to wear liners the whole way through.

Thanks everyone, I feel so much more reassured now Smile

I don't know what I'd do without this forum - well, I do, I'd probably be on Google every day and scaring myself to death Smile
