Hip ache

Hoping I can get some comments from others with a similar experience.

I am 5+3 weeks pregnant & have a viability scan in week already booked because of a full term stillbirth I had in March. This means I am pregnant 4 months after giving birth.

I am petrified something will go wrong & really worried about ectopics (I cried on Sunday thinking about losing a tube).

I have had aches for the past three days mostly on the left but mirrored on the right not as strong or as frequent. It's off-centre to the left just above hip level. I've also got a pain (very mild) as of today that is very reminiscent of a hip pain I had through my 3rd trimester that took a while (ie 2 months) to disappear after giving birth - on the bone/crease of my hip/leg. It's not been there for a couple of months & suddenly returned today.

Is it normal to have hip pain so early in a second pregnancy soon after labour? Have others had mild AF-like cramps at the top of their uterus that worried them?

Hi tsw - firstly, I'm sorry to hear about tour still birth, what an awful thing to have gone through x x

I'm 5wk+3 and for the last 3-4 days I have been having AF like cramps. They started strongly on Saturday and remained throughout the day and night. On Sunday they eased a little but they were in full force again by Monday evening. They have been minimal today though. I have asked around and been reassured that it is perfectly normal as the uterine contracts and changes shape to accommodate the foetus etc.

I was very worried initially, instantly thought the worst and was checking my knickers for blood, but like I said, I was told not to worry.

I may be worth checking with your GP though considering your history?

I'm seeing a specialist consultant next week after my scan so I don't plan to see anyone before (seeing as he is the expert & I am not a fan of other doctors atm) otherwise I would be straight there!

I was checking for blood too. I have had strong symptoms too & tested early (8 dpo) so feel reassured but still have a major doubt hanging over my head because of my history.

I got my BFP the day before my period was due and started getting symptoms almost straight away - typically in the form of extreme changes to how my breasts looked and felt. They suddenly returned to normal though last week and that is when my worry set in, I started obsessing about disappearing symptoms and then the cramps started and it was a downward spiral.

Thankfully though, extreme tiredness set in about 2 days ago and I started feeling nauseous today so I'm feeling a bit more reassured now that actually I am still pregnant.

I really hope your scan does a lot to reassure you x
