Hi
I am 25+5 today and for about a week have been experiencing a 'tightening' right the top left of my (rather huge) bump. I never had any BH with my previous twin pg and so assumed that that was what this tightening was.
Today however, this has got quite uncomfortable and travelled round my side so that I have a similar feeling in my back also. I can best describe it like somebody has hold of my side, right under my left breast and is squeezing my front with their fingers and back with their thumb.
My DSis who has just had DC3 told me to ring my MW as BH should not be painful and her's were only ever low down. Is this always the case?
MW said because I mentioned it was painful, I need to ring maternity ward and go in to be checked out and now I feel like I may be making a fuss over nothing. They are not painful as in agony, but have gone from being no pain at all to some pain. Not enough for paracetemol.
So, my question is, do I go in and get checked or is this normal and the MW is being overly cautious because I mentioned pain? I feel like I would be wasting everyones time, but would also never forgive myself if I overlooked something serious.
Thanks in advance.
X

I've had lots of Braxton Hicks and what you're experiencing doesn't sound quite like them. I'm sorry I can't offer more expert opinion on what it might be, but just wanted to say please don't worry about wasting people's time - that's what they're there for! Go and get yourself checked out and give yourself peace of mind.

This is what I have been experiencing. Albeit I am having Braxton hicks too. Turned out to be a bruised rib from baby kicks! No harm in going to the hospital just for checks.
