This is my first pregnancy and we're really excited about it. I've just turned 10 weeks and have a very definite tummy! Seems a bit unlikely at such an early stage, will it just be water retention do you think? I'm a size 8-10 usually with a very flat stomach (thanks to horse riding and sheep shearing!) so it's really noticeable. If I am getting a bump already then how big am I going to be in a few month's time?!
Thanks for sharing any similar experiences or words of wisdom Smile

Hi wand I was the same during my both my pregnancies (currently 26 weeks with number 2). I think it depends on your body - some women show more and earlier than others and, honestly, it doesn't mean that you will be huge towards the end. I always measured fine for my dates and remained size 10 in maternity clothing. Enjoy your pregnancy!

I had this, but I think it was just bloating as it disapeared at about 12 weeks and then proper bump didn't start appearing until about 16 weeks. Everyone's different though so I guess this could be your bump!

JoniR · 30/07/2013 16:41

I had a fairly obvious bump from 8-10 weeks. I'm now 11 weeks and it's completely gone. I'm fairly certain it was just bloating. I'm similar to you in that I have good stomach muscles to to horse riding and I did start to worry about what size I was going to end up!

BTW, are you still riding now that you are pregnant? Sorry to hijack the thread, I'm just curious. I am, but only hacking out at walk.

I started to show at that stage too & like you a size 8. You can tell if it's a proper bump because it will feel quite hard & not fatty. I am now 16 weeks and it did NOT shrink back down again, it is only growing! Smile I think this could be your bump! Lot's of ppl can't believe I am only 4 months & when my 12 week scan confirmed my dates are correct I knew I must just show more than some ppl. I had strangers asking my due date when I was only 12 weeks. Congrats! It's so exciting when you show Grin

I had a bump from about 9 weeks but as I'm big anyway (size 18) it was only noticeable to me! Wasn't bloating its gotten bigger since but still not big enough unfortunately, still just looking fat(ter) rather than pregnant and now 15 weeks

chickensaladagain · 30/07/2013 18:52

My sister had a bump at 9 weeks

It was twins!

When is your first scan? Grin

Carole803 · 31/07/2013 00:32

I srarted showing from 8 weeks. My pre pregnancy size was 14/16, but have always had a proportionatly flat tummy and smaller waist, which meant my clothes didn't fit from very early on, but was not big enough for maternity clothes, so most people thought I was putting on weight. When I told one of my friends last week @ 18 weeks, her response was "oh thank goodness" because I seemed to have put on a lot of weight, very quickly.

Over the first few weeks, up to week 16, my bump fluctuated in size, but was definitely there. Now it is just getting bigger and I keep wondering where I will fit when the bump takes over. I am only 5'3" so things look bigger! I had my 12 week scan and the bouncy bean on the screen def showed it couldn't share the space, so despite my size, there is only one little bean in there.

Don't worry about showing, just enjoy :)

Hi Wandering and congrats!!

Though I'm afraid it is not a bump but bloating. Your uterus doesn't start to move above your pubic bone until 12 weeks at the earliest! However that doesn't mean that jeans etc might start to become a tad uncomfy before that!

Baby is too small at this point to cause a bump x

Thanks for all the replies, sorry this is a bit of a late response, I don't seem to have had a lot of time at the computer in the last few days! Congrats to everyone on their bumps of various sizes Smile

It must just be bloating as the bulge gets bigger and smaller and this morning my stomach was flat again... until I ate lunch! lol. Blush

Eeek, don't you lot start on about twins. They run in both mine and my husband's families and he keeps having dreams that I'm having twins.

Joni R: yes I'm still riding at the moment. The doctor said that the baby is so well protected inside me at this stage that even if I did take a fall it would be highly unlikely to be harmed. I am being a little sensible though, which is irritating when I have a 3 yr old to break! My friends (I've only told very nearest and dearest so far) can't fathom why I've turned down the rides on two eventers this summer! I'm still riding my TBx and took him for a burn a couple of days ago, but I know him inside out. When I get a bit further down the line I'll switch to my friend's very safe cob and just play it by ear seeing how I feel and how twitchy my husband gets Wink
