I'm 9 weeks 4 days and already my tummy is poking out! I know the baby is minute but my waistline has definitely changed. I'm normally a size 10, all my work clothes are now really tight and i'm struggling to find things to wear. Is it too early to buy maternity clothes? Or should i just buy some things in larger sizes? It's my first baby so i'm a bit clueless at the moment! And where is a good/not too expensive place to buy maternity clothes?

Thanks x

Hi natale, and congrats!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's probably bloating at this stage! Might be cheaper/easier to try: lots of water, Deflatine, exercise etc - before you buy a whole new wardrobe. Bear in mind you'll be most heavily pregnant in winter, so you won't want tons of summer clothes.
Good cheap places are H&M, Peacocks and eBay.

HTH.

i was the same but it was bloating how ever i did change to comfey maternity leggings early on at 11 weeks because my clothes where to tight so no i dont think its to early new look has been the best by far for maternity clothing and reasonable prices mothercare has nice things but a tad more expensive :) x

Maternity clothes, I've found, are so expensive. I've had some total bargains from charity shops, but even now (at 22 weeks) I'm living in leggings and vest tops. I would recommend buying a couple of pairs of good quality maternity leggings, they're so worth it. Other than that, I've got a pair of jeans, a pair of trousers and a pair of combat trousers that I got from charity shops that all have a bump band. I've also got three maxi dresses which are absolutely amazing, and I'll be able to wear them after my pregnancy.

I used a hair bauble looped through my button hole until I was about 17 weeks, gives your jeans and trousers a bit of give. I've also heard that bump bands are really good but I didn't buy any personally.

I've not been buying any trousers that aren't maternity ones because if you get them in a bigger size to fit your belly, they just get dead baggy on your legs and tight on your stomach. Not nice.

I'm a size 14 (pre pregnancy) and some 14 vest tops still fit me, but I'm really up to a 16/18 or some men's large/extra large t shirts. I'm really quite big so far, and that's what's working for me. Hope that helps, best of luck :)

Thanks everyone for all your tips! I knew it wasn't the actual baby and i do feel very bloated! I've tried drinking lots of water but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere! I will definitely have a look at some of the maternity leggings and will try the tip with the hair tie!

I'm actually looking forward to the proper bump stage as i'm sure work colleagues just think i've been gorging myself!

Thanks everyone x
