Surprises During Pregnancy

I was hoping I could get some advice here, as my keywords are not helping me find any info via google.
My girlfriend is 18 weeks pregnant, it's her birthday soon and I would like to propose.
I don't think she will be completely surprised, but I don't think she is expecting it at this moment.
I suddenly started worrying last night that if it does come as a huge shock it might be dangerous for the baby?
I will freely admit I am generally a bit nervous about things, so would be happy to hear I'm just being overly concerned!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Unless you plan on doing it by jumping out on her in the dark I think you should be fine :).

Congratulations and good luck!

Aww, go for it! You might be surprised at her reaction though, she is likely to cry but that will be in a good way. Her hormones will be all over the place just now. Good luck, hope it goes well.

Many thanks for the quick replies.
It sounds slightly ridiculous now but I woke up thinking about it and it seemed more risky then!

My husband's currently trying to make he jump to "scare the baby out". It hasn't worked. She'll be fine! Good luck and congratulations!

Thanks for the good wishes, all went perfectly (I was a little sweatier than I had hoped but she didn't seem to mind :))

My dp proposed when I was 12 weeks, it was a total surprise and the best moment ever!! Just be warned I burst into tears and cried like a baby, us pregnant women can be a tad emotional/hormonal!! Congrats!!

BeanoNoir · 02/08/2013 14:36

Right, I'm going to try and get dh to scare the baby out when he gets home.

Congratulations, by the way Grin

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 02/08/2013 14:40

Aww, bless you for worrying! I do startle more easily (also 18wks), but I'm sure you won't cause any problems. How lovely of you though! Hope it's a lovely occasion.
