6 days late, negative test, could I still be pregnant?

Hi everyone!

I was hoping to ask for some advice from you :)

I have a regular 5 week cycle, it's always spot on. My last period was Wednesday 19th June, so I was due last Wednesday 24th July. I'm 6 days late.
I have had my usual pre-period cramps but they have been going on since Thursday 25th and every time it feels like my period is coming, it doesn't. (I've even wore pads while going to work because I was so sure it would come!)

I took a home pregnancy test this morning, boots own brand, and it was negative.
Have I tested too early? How long should I wait before the next?
Is there still a chance I could be pregnant?
I don't have any other specific pregnancy symptoms, I have the cramping and I'm very snappy but both are also a sign of a late period :) and I have slight sinus problems which I've read can be pregnancy related but because I have sinus problems often anyway!

I really appreciate any insight on my situation,
Thanks!
Fern

Hey just wanted to comment. When we were trying for my DS i was about a week late before I got a postive test. I tested every couple of days but I knew deep down I was pregnant but was so annoyed wen they came back negative!! Leave it a couple of days and test again. Turns out I ovulated a week later than the normal 14 days so that's y it took me a week late to get a postive test!! He's now 10 weeks old :-) good luck and hope u get the outcome u want xx

You could have ovulated later than normal (caused by stress /illness etc) and therefore your period may not be due yet. Or you could be pregnant and its just not showing on a test yet. To save yourself money i would only test every 2 days (as hormone levels double every 48 hours). Good luck
