Can anyone tell me good things about Kingston hospital? Or anywhere else in the same area?

No personal experience, but a good friend of mine had her first there and didn't have a bad word to say about the whole experience, and she was in for 5 days. Much more laid back than the central London hospitals by all accounts.

Antenatal at the new queen mary's is atrocious (kingston doesn't do antenatal) - 2 hour waits, no logical systems in place may just be teething problems as hospital is very new. Kingston itself is fabulous.

Had reasonable experiences with both births at Kingston, though nearly 8 and nearly 5 years ago now.

The unit is very nice and well-organised.

Midwives during established labour and delivery were wonderful - pre established labour and after birth not so good ( eg with breastfeeding support for my first baby).

Had a number of complications post-natally (after discharge) with DS1 and wasn't that impressed with treatment on re-admission.

Had emergency C-section with first in 2001 and elective in 2004.
Had antenatal scans for first at Queen Marys (before it was done up) and that was fine. Antenatal scans and consultant appointments done at Kingston in 04 and they were great. The Day Assessment Unit within the Maternity dept at Kingston is fantastic. I wnet there a few times with high blood pressure 1st time and then when I hadn't felt baby move I turned up as I was so worried. They never make you feel like a neurotic - kind, caring and always had time for me.
All in all, Both times were fab - could not complain really. Got private en-suite room both times. Food is lousy but isn't it everywhere?
Have loads of friends who have had babies and twins at Kingston and no-one has had anything to complain about.

did a visit of labour suite a few years ago (pre-children) when a friend was pg - was very impressed with what I saw.

a couple of family members given birth there in last 4yrs (3 births) - general opinion was as singersgirl said. neither cousins stayed longer than they needed.
