Would you buy a bargain pram early and keep it in the house (light hearted!)

Have seen the perfect pram e-bay, right price in my town, and quite keen to buy things over time to spread the cost. Very tempted to buy it and store it in the attic, but I'm only 12 wks pregnant! A) do you think it's too soon? B) does anyone hold with the superstition that it's bad luck to keep the pram in the house before the baby's born (well for that long anyway!)?

We got our pram at 21 weeks and it's been sat in the dining room since! Only one person has said it's bad luck, but as another poster has said, no-one's bothered about the stash of nappies/clothes/car seat we've also got Smile. Go for it!x

We did at 20 weeks - like someone said above I like to be organised and even though I knew of the superstition my need to be organised overruled!! 29 weeks now and pram is stored in the nursery-to-be :)

If its a really good deal you can resell if need be.

You still have a very long way to go. But if money was a bit right then I would want to spread the cost a bit. I'm just not sure how I would feel if the pregnancy did progress and you have to come home to a pram sitting there. I would personally wait until your abnormality scan.

We bought ours at 20 weeks as made a massive (+£350) saving by doing so. Live with my inlays and my DMIL was always saying about that bloody superstition it drove me to pieces mentally! I am not superstitious at all, but I was born on Friday 13th!!

We have agreed to keep it in the garage due to limited space at home, but I point blank refused to let DMIL's friend store it at her house as I wanted to know it would be accessible ASAP without relying on someone else being around.

I had visions of her going on holiday across the world and not being able to bring my baby home because of it! A simple compromise and everyone is happy! Smile

Garage is fully watertight btw. Also storing 2 cots - both from freecycle, a beautiful rocking chair/glider from a friend who doesn't want anymore, and his wife is broody, so giving away everything not needed, including a lovely wooden toy mobile and pull cart with building blocks. In perfect condition too!

We bought a cot and changing table at 14 weeks because it was on sale, saved over £200. Told my mum and her reaction was it was far too early but sorry, a saving of £200 is a saving of over £200, would have been daft not to get it then.

I've had a very high risk pregnancy with bleeds and cerclage and all sorts of scares.

Bought pram at 24 weeks.

maja00 · 29/07/2013 20:45

If the worst did happen at any stage, I'm not sure that baby stuff in the house would make things any worse.

SaucyJack · 29/07/2013 20:49

It's more the waste of hundreds of pounds that'd upset me maja

I have no soul tho.

maja00 · 29/07/2013 21:00

It wouldn't be a waste though - you can return unused stuff, sell it on, keep it for the next time.

AnnabelleLee · 29/07/2013 22:06

Probably not very light hearted, but I wouldn't. Too many times not got far enough to use it.

Christelle2207 · 29/07/2013 22:46

I wouldnt say dont buy it but the whole pram thing is very complicated- none of them tick all the boxes and it does depend what you'll use it for eg. Do you need it to fold easily into the car boot / does it need to be able to get on public transport easily? How much does it weigh? Also check out reviews of the model online. Im the extreme opposite of you, have been researching prams for months, it arrived yesterday, baby due friday!!!

Xmasbaby11 · 29/07/2013 22:58

I've never heard of that superstition, but I don't believe in them anyway. Buy it!
