Link between motion sickness and morning sickness?

Hi everyone, I read there might be a link between having motion/ car sickness and getting morning sickness in pregnancy. I would like to hear your experiences to see if this is true.

I'm ttc now, I get motion sickness and I'm just being really curious!

I've never had motion sickness but have had really bad nausea with this pregnancy.

I don't know about that link but in my experience cutting out all dairy (and gluten, I'm celiac) from my diet has made this pregnancy, my third, a doddle in comparison to my first two when I would be vomiting every day. So I would suggest to anyone who was suffering badly with morning sickness to first try cutting out dairy for a week and see if it improves.

Did you know that a very high percentage of people are lactose intolerant? Dairy produce is an unnatural food for us to consume and after childhood our ability to digest lactose decreases. I'm wondering if it was my inability to digest lactose and therefore have high levels of it in my body that was making me so sick.

I also wonder if it was the high levels of lactose in my breast milk that caused my dd to suffer from colic, until her ability to produce lactase kicked in, and caused my ds to develop eczema and have green, mucousy nappies until he was able to digest it better. It does make me wonder.

Well, I never suffered from motion sickness until I was pregnant. In the first 3 months my hour long drive to work would be more like 2-2.5 hours due to needing to stop and be sick at the side if the road. In the end, I started staying with my mum closer to work (only 20mins drive) and still had to stop in occasion.

Now the morning sickness is (thankfully!) over I don't suffer from motion sickness either anymore.

My morning sickness was so much worse in the car - I couldn't go anywhere without a sick bag. Gross! xx

No link for me either. I get carsick if I read or text, and get seasick on sailboats. But I've only ever barfed once during this pregnancy, and it was very likely due to mistiming my dose of folic acid. Either that or my baby really hates raspberry jam.

No link for me.
I get really bad motion sickness, car, boat, bus.
I felt positively fabulous throughout my pregnancy.

I did a little correlation on your experiences and the result is... that there is no correlation! So there's no apparent link between motion and morning sickness, measured in the most unscientific way possible Smile

I have had 8 children and have been lucky enough never to have experienced morning sickness...I have never suffered from motion sickness either...I always wondered if there was a connection.

Had horrible motion sickness as a child and not great as an adult - definitely vibration rather than rough seas is a problem for me. No morning sickness whatsoever ...
