Hiding pregnancy at wedding

It's my little sisters wedding in 5 weeks. I'm 6 weeks pg now so will be 11 weeks pg at the wedding. Had a mmc in march so don't want to tell everyone until after 12 wks. Only problem is that I will be at an awkward stage to dress - this will be my 3rd pregnancy and I am already slightly showing. So my question is what style dress to wear. I'm usually a 12 but already 14 now... Any styles I should look out for?? Thanks Smile

Not sure about styles but something with a pattern rather than a solid colour will definitely help. And maybe floaty layers could help too.

I am 14 weeks & have a wedding next weekend and i have a red tea dress from Next (sorry on phone so cant link) which has a pleated sort of skirt. Two weeks ago it hid my bump nicely so could work for you, now it makes me look huge as my bump has really started to pop out so i'm back to the drawing board but i'm now not trying to hide it.

Thanks craving! Will take a look. Good idea about the distracting pattern not block colour...

It's the not drinking that might out you.

Maybe something empire line (I think that's what it's called...?) where it is fitted under the bust then flares out to hide any bumps.

coffeewineandchocolate · 28/07/2013 16:28

how about the dresses that have a full petticoat under? tea dresses? the are fitted at the top so would flatter the top

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 28/07/2013 17:32

congrats on your pregnancy :) i was the same, pg after mc, so was very wary about telling anyone before our scan.

i would go for something like a 50s style dress, like one of these maybe? or that sort of style...still very flattering on top, but cover up a multitude of bumps :) especially if you also get a crinoline petticoat for underneath :)

Would a private reassurance scan be an option OP, then maybe you could relax and tell people rather than having the stress/hassle of trying to hide it?

Iheartcrunchiebars · 28/07/2013 17:55

Accessorise your dress constantly with a glass of champers (you don't need to actually drink it) it puts everyone off.

IHeartKingThistle · 28/07/2013 18:06

I think empire line screams pregnancy! I'd do something waisted/belted but with a full/circle skirt - they're so gathered you can hide anything!

Dackyduddles · 28/07/2013 18:08

Best drink? G&T bought by hubby.

Tonic and lime

If friends suss then wipe a bit of gin round rim but innards are just tonic/ice/lime. Coz you can smell it you believe it's there...

An empire dress will show off any bump. I agree a tea dress or a structured dress would work best.

And yes to carrying a glass of wine!

omri · 29/07/2013 00:26

Thanks all - yes i will be walking around with (the same) half glass of wine all day!!
I do think empire line will only emphasise the bump now that i think about it.
will keep along the lines of distracting patterns and maybe something along the lines of that new look dress link you sent purple poppy - think that would suit my shape. Anything waisted even now makes me look thick-waisted - ugh! but do agree it should be structured so as to avoid looking frumpy/preggers!!!!

if only it was a couple of weeks later - fingers crossed i'll be telling them the happy news and proudly displaying lil bump :)

afraid to go for "reassurance scan" that week in case it isnt good news
:(
