How early did you get braxton hicks? I am in my 22nd week with dc 2 and have been having braxton hicks for the past few days. I don't remember having them nearly as early with dc1. Is it normal?

I've been having them since 21 weeks (am 22 now) and a couple of people have said it was the same for them - so hopefully normal! Smile I didn't know what was going on when it first happened, thought the baby had gone into a weird position!

Thanks alexandra. Im glad someone out there has replied with the same experience because i was starting to get worried about it :-)

I'm having them too. My midwife says a lot of people are having then because of the heat!

lilstar · 27/07/2013 12:32

Ah, thats interesting laura. Would never have thought about the heat being a factor for these. It has affected me though...made me faint! Just the once thankfully lol :-)

I got them around then too. Midwife said as long as no bleeding and they didn't actually hurt then nothing o worry about.

laura2323 · 27/07/2013 12:40

Lilstar, the first time it happened to me I fainted too! Getting used to them now, mine mainly happen at night or if I get overheated. I'm just drinking loads and eating loads of ice pops! It seems to help! Hope everything goes ok for you x

I started with them much earlier with DC2 than I did with DC1.

It was the same for friends too

Dehydration is meant to make them worse, so guess loads and loads of water etc should help take the edge off them. I think I've been having them a while (since about 22wks I think) but tbh it's my first and I can't really tell if its the bb moving into a weird position, BH, or something else a lot of the time.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Sounds like its fairly common at this point now. Probably should drink more though, so will start doing that now, see if it helps.
