I must be the only person not enjoying this hot weather! i absolutly love the summer, but i carnt even sit in the sun for long, i get really really hot and sweaty and i have to then come into the house to escape the heat! :(

I really enjoy it but I have to keep coming in and getting out of the heat and drinking cold water as if I stay in it too long I get light headed. But I'd still MUCH rather it be like this than all cold and grey!

Angeliz · 09/06/2006 14:13

TBH that's what i was told about being pregnant in the summer but i am loving it now.
My other 2 were over Christmas (when i was big) and i was always in enormous jumpers and coats that wouldn't do up.
I am enjoying cut off jeans and little tops nowSmile
Sorry you're not though!

due aug. have sweaty knickers Blush and am in hot office where my fingertips are sweaty on my mouse (sounds so pervy)

MeAndMyBoy · 09/06/2006 14:29

I'm not enjoying the hot weather at all, never do very well in the heat anyway and usually end up spending most of the day inside in my cool house and go out in the evenings when it's cooler. I'm 19wks pg and stupidly agreed to a Algarve holiday in Aug!!! I will be sat in the Villa for 2 weeks while everyone else is out enjoying themselves.

Angeliz · 09/06/2006 14:36

Yes Lio you sound like a total perv!!!

LucyJones · 09/06/2006 14:44

I am suffering too - drinking loads of water but then needed to wee 3 times whilst in town this morning!!

intergalacticwalrus · 09/06/2006 15:08

Hate it too, due 14th Sept, and don't think I can stand another 3 bloody months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2labs · 09/06/2006 15:49

Not very good with heat either (due in Aug), but luckily I work from home so no commuting on hot trains to suffer. Am v pale too so can't sit in the sun for long without my skin turning red and then falling off Shock.

SophieB · 09/06/2006 17:55

im due on 23rd Sept and i thought that getting through the summer being big was going to be ok, boy was i wrong! having said that it gives me an excuse to go out and buy more summer clothes that actually fit me!!

Yes. ALL other pregnant women everywhere are completely immune to high temperatures

BettySpaghetti · 09/06/2006 18:04

This time 2 years ago ( 8.5months pregnant) I spent ages sitting under a garden umbrella with my feet in DDs paddling pool!! I can definately recommend it Smile

alexsmum · 09/06/2006 18:32

i had ds2 2 in august 2003 when we had the heatwave.for the last month i could barely walk! i could only get my feet into flipflops, i was the size of a whale, and ds1 went to nursery at the top of a hill.
you have my sympathies ladies!

YellowFeathers · 09/06/2006 18:37

I don't mind it all that much but thats probably because I don't work and refuse to go anywhere atm Grin
I'm almost 31 weeks but no doubt I'll get more cheesed off as time goes on!

Mind you, I had DS in December, and I couldn't fit into shoes as my feet were like a couple of zeppelins. Wearing flip flops and slippers when it's icy is no joke, especially when you can't fit into coats and jumpers, and you have to rely on scarves to keep warm.

Howevere, the lethargy from being preg in the summer is not nice either. I am hating it. By 5 every afternoon, I just want to die.

KathrynWales · 10/06/2006 12:07

Bloody hot !
Am due in 11 days, am the size of a small continent, walking further than 10ft knackers me out and I am waddling like a one legged duck. Bedroom is 200c at night. Baby's nursery (all done up and raring to go)is apparently "too hot" according to the room thermometer so am now going to have to go to Argos and buy lots of fans. Oh, and I'm told the labour ward is permanently boiling hot.

Despite this, mother is telling me baby will need a vest on under his baby gro and a cardigan when I bring him home after the birth.... Angry

But hey, the woman at the checkout in tesco told me I'm blooming, so I guess I must be! Blush

suzywong · 10/06/2006 12:12

You want to try being 38 weeks pg when the thermometers popped at 100 degrees F three years ago.

how hot is it btw?

biglips · 10/06/2006 12:24

hee hee!!! i was on a cruise when i was 5.5 months pg in the canary islands 2 yrs ago - i was a walking boiler!!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/06/2006 12:28

Feel for you all.

I am now having my first NOT pregnant summer after 2 years of feeling like i was going to die!

Electric fan full blast directly on you - works wonders!

alexsmum · 11/06/2006 10:47

kathrynwales, as i have posted i had ds2 during the heatwave 2 years ago.i was madly concerned about how i was going to keep him cool-buying clip on fans for the cot, special short babygrows etc.
after he was born they were almost going to put him in an incubator to warm him up because he was too cold. i ended up putting him in a vest, nightie, cardigan, socks and a hat and cuddling him to my chest to warm him.i think it was because the window was open in the delivery room to try and cool things down and it just chilled him.when we got home he still ended up wearing vest and babygrow etc.
don't be too harsh on your mum-she may have a point!

IamBlossom · 11/06/2006 18:45

I found it ok yesterday but was in a paddling pool wearing an orange sequinned bikini - a true sight to behold at 34 weeks I can assure you, threw water at DH when I caught him with the camera. Horrible today though, no breeze, tired, DS grotty. TOO hot, whinge moan.

bumpybel · 11/06/2006 19:14

Blossom.. orange sequinned bikini!!!!!! get back to your chores woman... you've still got a month to go!!! Grin

juuule · 11/06/2006 19:21

Suzywong - 3 years ago, me too :o I was 40 weeks and went 2 weeks over with swelling feet and legs. Resorted to getting up in the early hours to sit outside in the garden as it was the only time I could cool down. Didn't know it was 100f though or is that just where you are?
Everyone who is pg and suffering in this heat has my sympathy.

SophieB · 11/06/2006 19:21

Really suffering today!! ive just stayed indoors with the fan on! Also my feet are suffering in this heat, im living in flip flops my feet look a very unsexy red colour!! i keep having cool showers. All in all im looking pretty damn unattractive!!! lol :(
